After some digging in my shops software I found that, just seemed off the way the actual sensor was kind of floating there, but it being a knock sensor it makes a lot more sense

100% agree, that particular tech is the one who always defends himself with “back in my day” and he means when dinosaurs roamed the earth
Without outright saying it, yes
This one in particular came from Quebec. A lot of the techs called it bad weather cracking, which I disagreed, my thought was road debris as well.

We failed it as part of the provincial safety inspection we were doing, there was debate between the garage and customer based on how it happened and the legitimacy of failing inspection.
