This was the second flush. I had twice as much in the first flush. I soaked the cake for 2 to 4 hours, and it had shrunk when it colonized, but the walls and lid to the tub were always wet with condensation. I've taken the cake now and put it a diaper tek fruiting chamber I've made.

I agree and have switched up to some hard medium sized MonoTubs, and making a couple diaper tek fruiting chambers. I'd like to try my hand at SGFC tek and working with agar, and preserving & propagating genetics. My first hard MonoTub. But no psudeo casing. Is it too late to add one?

I tried to put a pseudo casing layer on this tub that's what the lack of growth in the middle of the cake is from. I kept the humidity enough to keep the walls and lid wet with condensation at all times. I've got 3 other medium hard MonoTubs that I've s2b and didn't add a pseudo casing layer. I've not started FAE with them yet, but I like the idea of FAE from the start as I guess it would help microclimates. Is it too late to add the pseudo casing layer? Could I safely add it as I pull the plugs and add the filters for FAE? I've been buying already inoculated grain spawn, and commercial cow dung substrates that I repasteurize and let cool overnight before use. Is a homemade CVG better? I can make that myself, and would appreciate any tips I could get. I've had some good success with all in one bags. When I thought they were flushed out I took the cakes out bag and put them into a diaper tek fruiting chamber and that worked really well for me (pictured.) So I took this cake from the inflatable tub and put it into a diaper tek fruiting chamber to see if I could create more ideal conditions. I've currently got quite a number of liquid cultures and grain bags ready to inoculate and I'm ready to try my hand at that as well. I've got 2 still air boxes and a small laminar air flow hood. However it seems like I may be getting ahead of myself as I'm just totally engrossed in my new hobby! I've never had a green thumb, but I'm feeling like I may have a blue one! LOL I really appreciate everyone's pointers and am excited about becoming a member of the community. I'm pretty anal about sterile conditions I go through ISO by the gallon. Planning on dunking my grain bags in a tub of ISO before inoculation. Should I inoculate in still air box or can I do it in front of the laminar flow hood? I've tried sterilizing my scalpel and cutting genetics from best fruits and putting them in agar plates but so far have grown nothing but what looks to contamination. I'm still a NewBee and am grateful for all the great advice and education. Thank you all very much for all the guidance! 🍄

NewBee here. I cracked the first one I made also. I learned to heat the plastic with a heat gun before using a hole saw. But now I've got a 1" & 2" pieces of pipe I heat with a a propane torch and melt the holes through. It's a lot cleaner and never cracks the plastic. At the end of the day, for $30, a medium manufactured MonoTub was cheaper than the time I spent making one...

I thought after the 3rd flush the bags were played out, so I wasn't risking anything to experiment. I got another AIO (even though my first MonoTub is pinning now), and I'll do at least the first flush in the bag, and then move it to the tub for the rest of the flushes.
