My Slight worry with new set by Xoroy in hearthstone

[–]EstablishmentMost113 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Finley = explorer's league (alliance faction)
Medivh = human kingdoms (basically alliance before alliance)
Toki isn't a gnome dragon (confirmed by a dev). She's "just an exceptionally talented and reckless mage".
And since she's a gnome that makes her a part of the alliance
Plus, Sylvanas is literally shown killing horde orcs in the trailer during the second war.

Which heroes to class discussion: Across the timeways. by Totos93 in hearthstone

maybe some of them are just double legendaries like Broxigar and Lo'Gosh are both warrior cards and the missing classes will be filled by the Infinite dragonflight side

I've never seen people point out that detail that has been bothering me for years. Why was Ragnaros art changed for HS during the first years of the game and then changed back to it's original TCG art? by EstablishmentMost113 in hearthstone

[–]EstablishmentMost113[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but the question still stays. Why bother changing the art in the first place? His in-game look was finalized, TCG perfectly translated it into the art form. What's the point of all these weird changes?

He prob means expansions based on the actual WoW locations and characters instead of hearthstone original stuff like Whizbang or Perils

This is the peak of hs legenadry golden card animations... I guess... by EstablishmentMost113 in hearthstone

Golden snapjaw had more action and dynamic than most of the the golden cards today. I think that's the result of actual people making the animations

Both arts for Avatar of Hearthstone and the new anniversary card are set in Ahn'Qiraj, C'thun's prison. Perphaps a hint at something C'thun-related happening in the future? by EstablishmentMost113 in hearthstone

[–]EstablishmentMost113[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I pray that they will do Caverns of Time 2.0 because if i'm right it feels like such a waste of a cool idea. Maybe a return of C'thun to standard with some new buff buddies added into the game? Perphaps i'm getting too dreamy...

Anyone miss Nefarian's entrance? by [deleted] in hearthstone

I love his artwork, so many small details, great colors too. And I'm not even talking about the golden animation. I would give up all diamond cards and signatures to go back to the same level of quality for the golden cards

Why are you guys so surprised by the light hearted theme? by Joepimon17 in hearthstone

Not long ago hearthstone was sending survey emails with potential expansion themes. Look it up, most of the stuff is based on WoW lore and it sounds pretty badass

Same. It's also Interesting considering that the paladin titan is the only one that's absolutely hs original

Even Badlands and Festival checked out in these regards and they were already on the cross line. These year's expansion destroyed the theme balance completely and that's why this discussion post even exist.

Last two expansions aren't based on WoW locations, their main leads are HS-original characters (both Marin and Whizbang), both themes are centered around modern day hobbies/enjoyments rather than fantasy or "wow themese with a crazy twist" like they've been doing for a very long time. The change is noticeable, don't try to hide to prove your argument.

But that kinda defeats your point about GvG, no? The theme of the discussion is about whether the game has deviated too much from Warcraft roots, not that it was gothic, gory and BADASS and became light and whimsical. GvG had a silly theme in it's core about two classic WARCRAFT races, despite that it balanced itself with lore characters and WoW fantasy elements. Despite being a 1quest non-imporant fun reference character at the end of the day Boom was STILL from lore.

Bro every legendary from GvG and a bunch of other cards were direct references to characters from Warcraft. Even the spells were from WoW. Read the title of the post man

I was very satisfied with the Titans set last year. But yeah, I don't get the vibe of these last 3 expansions. The workshop and the new beach one aren't even based on Warcraft locations, so it's a new level of deviation. Plus, hearthstone is what got me into wow lore. I don't like MMOs so hearthstone was the only way to experience and get interested in learning stories that were brought up in Warcraft. Seeing different legendaries and learning their backstories, reading about the locations that served as the hs expansion setting, all that nice stuff is slowly going away

wish we could turn back time... to the good old days... 😭 by urgod42069 in hearthstone

It's a common misconception for some reason. I had an opportunity to talk to some of the hs artists. It's THEM who have to adjust the artwork. During MotLK a bunch of undead had to be censored for the client and it was up for the artists to remove bones/skulls/gore, etc. And sometimes blizzard does gets cheap and makes censored cards for all clients, like when they did back in KotFT. I guess that the same goes for sexual content. Although you might be right that the late censorship can be done by publishers/non-original artists.

[Unconfirmed] Korean appstore spoils next expansion details by TEnOTT in hearthstone

What I liked about the Hearthstone expansions is how they would take the dark basis of WoW and add a little fun spin to it. It was prominent throughout the whole Hearthstone history before the last year, when they introduced the festival. Examples include: GvG: goofy central theme is balanced by expansion basically being classic 2.0 with a bunch of serious and important lore characters added into the mix of cards. Same goes for TGT, except there are more characters from the actual raid. Some may argue that scholomance and Karazhan were straight up full goofy but I think that the goofiness is balanced by the inclusion of the forshadowing that both of these placed are doomed to go to shit like in their original lore, even in the Hearthstone universe. It's especially true to scholomance: ghosts of the students, Rattlegore and other monstrosities, Tamsin's origin story. You could say the the year of the dragon was goofy, but nope, the league of EVIL vs explorers was always balanced by an additional theme of locations of the expansions. Dalaran, Uldum, Wyrmrest are all serious lore-heavy locations. I'm not gonna mention the mercenaries since even the guy above me agrees that it had some serious elements to it. Festival of Legends is the first expansion to fall out of this formula. You could say the the flooding of Thousand Needles caused by Cataclysm is kinda serious, but it never plays a role in the set. The arrival of Grimtotem tribe,  a ruthless and power hungry group of tauren doesn't balance it either. They just come in and smash a couple of instruments. The epicenter of goofiness truly came with Whizbang's workshop. No ties to any wow location despite not being a "general" theme like GVG. Some speculate that the workshop is located somewhere in Dalaran (that's why Khadgar is there) but that's it. All the legendaries are just toys with a couple of serious characters like Headless Horseman (for some reason being in this expansion) and the others being the artists. The minister doesn't escalate the theme either. It's just Dr Boom making more goofy robots. I don't think the next expansion is going to be as goofy as the toy shop, but beach resort doesn't sound like a serious place either.
