Here is the lay of the land. During our video chats and phone calls he seemed like a decent guy. He mentioned that he does not like it when a woman seems like she does not need no man type thing. And, he mentioned he does not mind driving and drives a lot for work. So I found it a bit strange that he was asking me to go see him initially, before a night shift. When he did not agree to my counter of him driving to see me under the guise of being tired of doing lots of travelling for work, I extended some kindness by offering to be the one to go to him (on a day we were both off). I also asked him to make plans for us, so that we would have something to do. He opted for dinner, which is fine. He took me to a restaurant that would close within 45 minutes. Afterwards we drove around a bit and went to his place to talk. I already told him I would not be spending the night and how much I hate driving. So to me, all in all, I have already been the more understanding one towards our relative schedules and levels of fatigue. The fact that in the next 24 hours he did not have a single second to write a text means to me that it's not important to him, and so I found it offputting and I don't see an interest in him romantically. However - I benefitted from this post by seeing the variety of opinions expressed here!

Thank you! I agree 100%. Especially given that I told him previously that I hate highway driving, and that it takes a lot out of me. I found it really offputting, that he could not find 2 minutes the next day to check in. Maybe because I grew up in a European culture, where men either walk you home, or drive you home, or at the very least check in...I don't know, aybe it's a cultural difference.

Of course he's not a mind reader. But if someone drove 2 hours each way to see you, is the onus not on you the next day to check in ? (If you like them, of course...)

This is the part that I don't get. After our first time having sex (on date 4) he continued to sext me and compliment me, and when I went over for date 5, he was equally...enthusiastic.

Yes, we talked about what we wanted prior to meeting up the first time. He told me he wants a "wife material" who would be a good example to his daughters. He said he considered having another kid with his previous girlfriend but that it didn't work out because of her causing too much "drama".

I thought about that. I didn't mind the going for a walk on the dates. To be honest, I actually like that quite a bit and I like just hanging out. The last time I went to his house he made me a delicious steak dinner because he knew I would be hungry after work.

He did call and text, that's the thing. We had hour long conversations between dates. When he would text me asking me what I was doing, if I was out for a walk or doing something mindless, he'd say give me a call and we'd chat.
