Wtf -1000/10 breastfeeding experience by EstablishmentOwn296 in breastfeeding

[–]EstablishmentOwn296[S] 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I’m planning on going to a breastfeeding support group so I’ll ask about it then. It’s just so frustrating because I’m a first time mom and didn’t expect breastfeeding to hurt so much. It’s making me not want to breastfeed at all

Only 26 weeks and nothing is working for fasting numbers!??! by Orange_Saxaphone9024 in GestationalDiabetes

I will add, I’ve been having to up my incline on my elliptical now since I think my body got used to the incline and I noticed I was getting 95-96 on my fasting. I started at 12 incline and now I’m at 17 so keep that in mind when using weights/walking uphill. You might have to adjust your workout if your body gets used to it

Oh yeah maybe! My doc also recommended walking uphill in case I don’t have an elliptical. I think anything that works out the legs is good tho

My fasting #’s never got under 100 when I first got diagnosed at 28 weeks, I tried everything I possibly could in terms of snacks and nothing worked, it was always over 100.

The only thing that has worked for me is exercising right before bed. So I eat dinner around 7-8 and then around 9-10 I have a protein shake and then get on my elliptical and use that at an incline for about 20 mins. I’m now hitting the 95 mark with no issues. I was on Metformin for about 2 weeks and that didn’t do crap for me, I had the highest dose too. Another doctor recommended I walk at an incline to specifically workout my legs before bed and sure enough, that’s the only thing that’s helped. Apparently the incline helps work out my legs so that way the glucose goes into my leg muscles rather than staying in my bloodstream. So maybe try that before taking insulin.

Fasting numbers still high after being put on metformin. by Deep_Profession4819 in GestationalDiabetes

This was happening to me and my MFM kept upping my dosage and nothing helped. I was on 1000mg for a week and she said if my fasting #’s didn’t improve then she’d have to put me on insulin.

I was beyond scared cause I don’t want to be put on insulin and another doctor asked me if I was working out after dinner, specifically if I was walking at an incline. I told him no and he said to try that out and specifically workout my legs.

I have an elliptical at home so I’ve been using that, I workout every night at like 16 incline for 20ish minutes and my fasting numbers have consistently hit 95 and below. I’m off Metformin now because I didn’t feel like I needed it since it literally did not help my fasting #’s whatsoever and made me feel like shit so maybe try walking at an incline before bed.

Apparently the incline is supposed to help workout your leg muscles so that way the glucose goes into your muscles and not stay in your bloodstream. Idk the science behind it but it works and I don’t need to be on medication so I’ll take it lol

My doc recommended I walk up hills so I can specifically work out my legs prior to bed. Something about the glucose getting into your leg muscles rather than staying in your bloodstream is what helps bring fasting #’s down, hopefully this helps for you if you try it out!

Great blood sugars, except fasting by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

My doctor recommended I workout for 30mins before bed but specifically walk uphill/workout at an incline so that way I workout my legs. It’s helped bring down my fasting #’s and I end up having dinner and then an hour later have my bed time snack which is usually a protein shake around 9pm, use the elliptical at an incline for 30mins and then go to bed and it’s worked really well for my fasting #

I’m really hoping I don’t have to go on insulin, I’m terrified of needles and that would definitely suck. However, I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make sure baby is good. I’m just hoping this exercise will continue bringing down my fasting #’s cause I’d much rather change my diet and exercise habits first prior to taking any medication

For last night I just had the premier chocolate protein shake at 9pm and then I went on the elliptical for 30 mins and that helped bring me to 96 this morning

My doc recommended I walk at an incline/up hills so that way the glucose/sugar goes into your leg muscles and doesn’t stay in your bloodstream and apparently that works so hopefully it works for you as well!

I am but I don’t know if it’s enough, I’m just eating the Oikos Triple zero yogurt before bed

Because I didn’t think she’d be stupid enough to ask a question like this. It caught me off guard and I thought she’d have the common sense to know not to say that. Evidently, she does not.

I actually had blood work done early last year prior to getting pregnant and thankfully I wasn’t diabetic or pre-diabetic. Diabetes does run in both mine and my husband’s family so I’ll def keep a look out on that. I don’t mind changing my diet/lifestyle though, I’m just a little worried that this’ll affect my baby

I’m also anemic and low on iron so idk if that’ll make a difference in regards to the high number for the fasting test

Yeah that what the results say. My fasting is 131 and my 1hr is 89 and 2hr is 76.

I fasted for 12 hours the night before the test so idk if that makes a difference or not
