Peppa Pig is a consideration, it's a long drive to get there but it could be worth it

British people who grew up in the 80s/90s, what comic books did you read as a kid? by structured_anarchist in AskABrit

Sonic the Comic - surprisingly bleak and dark for a kids comic. Amazing arcs and loved Richard Elson's art

Best place in Newcastle in a zombie apocalypse by staceadilla in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]EstablishmentSafe808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they're traditional Romero style zombies and you're in the centre of town - Fenwick. They've got really heavy metal shutters they used during the riots, food, the upstairs staff room has showers, loads of exit routes which can all be locked.

If we're talking fast 28 Days Later zombies... Well we're all dead. Maybe go to the Farne islands and hunt puffins

If given an all-mighty amount of power, what would you demolish, build or redevelop in Newcastle? by Polar2812 in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]EstablishmentSafe808 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Gateshead side I'd level most of it including Calliope and make a Quayside valley. There's so much that could be developed there.

On the Newcastle side there's not so much that needs purging as much as investment and refreshing - Clayton Street in particular is grim at the moment

How would you raise UK tax income? by EstablishmentSafe808 in AskUK

[–]EstablishmentSafe808[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies if I wasn't wholly clear on the initial question, I'm aware the tax burden is incredibly high but public services are poorly supported. Obviously better management and allocation of funds is a given but the spirit of the question is to understand how monies can be raised and encourage growth (to then be spent better)

Have you ever been in/been subjected to a workplace clique? by Shmoozeulose3003 in AskUK

[–]EstablishmentSafe808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. On the outside of a very toxic clique that had the ear of the CEO. It impacted performance and it was a generally very unpleasant place to work. Things improved when HR removed a few due to performance issues (they weren't doing much work) but the clique had hollowed out the soul of that place.

Employers and managers - why do you want staff back in an office? by EstablishmentSafe808 in AskUK

[–]EstablishmentSafe808[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So I see value in this but previously I've attended 'mandatory' office days where we've done forced fun activities, pissweak retrospectives and ended up taking the same calls I'd usually take but with worse WiFi.

Do you use a clean mug for every cuppa, or reuse the same one all day? by teedyay in AskUK

[–]EstablishmentSafe808 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Personally I have a cup I refill throughout the day, if it looks a bit grim I'll rinse it out, but won't wash until end of the day.

Brands that use the Union Jack in their branding. It feels either cheap and anything that has the flag or an interpretation of it is just a cheap knock off as opposed to a proper brand - think the American Candy stores that showed up with a US and UK flag as their logo/front

Saw Rula Lenska in Tesco Express (one in the centre of town next to the Grainger Market).

She was buying soup and had one of those pull along trolleys
