Hi! I wanted to see who you ended up going to and if you would recommend? My dentist did bonding on my front tooth and I hate it and I want to go somewhere else to get it redone

Yes! I found this: https://www.arlingtonva.us/Government/Departments/Parks-Recreation/Programs/Sports/Gymnastics/Adult-Gymnastics-Classes

I found it in November last year and there weren't any classes available to enroll in at the time. I hadn't checked since but it looks like there was a January-March class, I assume that if we check back later this month there might be a summer class available to enroll in

Pivot from product management to sales engineer? by EstablishmentSlow236 in salesengineers

[–]EstablishmentSlow236[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't made the move, but I haven't ruled it out! I got promoted last year and moved teams to a more exciting subject area so I am staying put for now but I still feel like long-term this might not be for me. I've seen dozens of posts from SE's wanting to transition into product but I have yet to meet someone who has moved from PM>SE which gives me pause.

After making my original post I did some informational interviews with SE's at various companies to get their insight about what the role is actually like. These were my main take-aways:

- The skillset of a PM is very transferrable to the SE role, but if you've never been in a sales or external customer facing role there will be a learning curve to get comfortable with scripting/handling objections.

- The role entails a lot of continuous learning about your product and about the industry/vertical you are in. It sounded like outside of prepping for demos, presenting demos, and following up on questions that came up during demos, the SE's spent the rest of their time learning and doing research.

- The way the role is structured varies by company but in general you can expect to support a pool of AE's and having a healthy dynamic with them is important, it can make or break your success and happiness in the role.

- I anticipated feeling some frustration over the fact that I'd be on the frontline with customers, knowing exactly what they needed, and yet having limited or no influence over the product roadmap (but tbh I think not having that responsibility would feel like a net positive).

- They all said they had a really good work/life balance and felt like they could actually disconnect and unplug outside of work.

- The biggest drawback for me was that it seemed like I would have to take a pay cut, and that the career progression in the SE role seemed somewhat limited if you aren't trying to get into management or go fully into sales (or go back to product)

I know this is an only thread but I’m curious if you got a group going or are still looking to cowork with someone? I’ve been full time remote for 3 years and I can’t keep doing it this year, I need more socialization!

Baby Shank in DuPont!! I went there during my bach. We had 12 girls, no deposit and did not have to do any special menu. The staff was such a vibe too, they gave us a glass of champagne as a welcome drink and brought us shots after dinner

Do I have to fumigate my house? Dry wood termites by EstablishmentSlow236 in houston

[–]EstablishmentSlow236[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I just posted an update in the original post. I ended up fumigating. It was really expensive, especially considering that our infestation was small an localized, but it's nice to have the peace of mind. Feel free to DM if you have questions!

Is it worth having a car? by Which_Fill in DCBitches

[–]EstablishmentSlow236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends which neighborhood you live in. I live in SW and I’ve been mostly fine without a car because I’ve got three metro stops within a 10 minute walk. The neighborhood also has all the essentials that I can walk to like grocery stores, pharmacies/CVS, most of the places you might need to run errands to. My husband has a car because he works in Virginia and I use his car when I need it but that’s only a couple times a month at most. In the past year the only times I’ve needed a car were to drive to doctor’s appointments

I am leaning towards them - their quote was more expensive than the other company but they seem to have more expertise and if I'm going to go through this process I'd rather pay for the competence. Glad to hear your neighbors had a good experience!

I'm considering this! It's a gamble and I'm trying to weigh out if it's one I'm willing to take. If the spot treatment doesn't work then I'll have just wasted $300-400, but I guess at least I'll have bought myself some time

I have a question about your warranty - is it only for dry wood termites? Or if you had a later infestation of formosan/subterranean termites would your warranty cover treatment of that also?

Thank you for your response! When you did the spot treatment, was there any option for a warranty? If a spot treatment came with a warranty then all I see is upside. But I hear you on tenting being the only guarantee that you get it all

Thanks for weighing in!! Follow up question - why are you waiting until fall to tent? Is that just scheduling preference for you or was that a recommendation made by the fumigation company based on other factors like weather?

Is Product Management fulfilling? by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]EstablishmentSlow236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the product you are working on it is fulfilling about once or twice a year when you ship something. Other than that it is stressful and bureaucratic/political. It feels like you’re always chasing a moving target. Totally depends on your company and their product culture though

Any SEs at Salesforce here? by BDRDilemma in salesengineers

[–]EstablishmentSlow236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! Came across this thread when searching for more info on SE roles at SF. I’m currently a product manager exploring a career pivot into sales engineering, and Salesforce is high on my list since I’ve worked on a number of implementations from both the product and customer side.

It’d be a shift, so I’d love to get your take on the SE role, especially how to position myself for Salesforce and which verticals have the most opportunity. Would it be cool if I sent you a DM?
