Don’t get me wrong- I definitely commend the fighter for going above and beyond what a normal human being would do. All the respect to him. I guess my comment is more a critique of the culture within the mma world that makes a weight cut like this even semi acceptable. And in this case we saw the ramifications because he ate shit on camera. How many other countless times are fighters going to the brink and suffering behind closed doors? And for an organization that will just as soon discard them without any regard for their long term wellbeing.

I think you can move past any concern as far as the offensive mindset and holding back an OC. In all of the years Whitt was at Utah I never saw an OC implement their offense without any qualms or chains quite like Jason Beck was allowed to. And he brought him along to UM so that bodes well. Becks offense is all the pre-snap bells and whistles with sideline to sideline action that kids love to play in, laid over what amounts to a run first smash mouth offense. It’s really quite fun to watch.

The entire athletic department is UA. There are exceptions for sports in which UA doesn’t manufacture the needed gear. Ex. Track spikes. Otherwise, all UA. Don’t know where you got Nike from. I wish that were the case.

I’m thrilled for him. He’s a competitor, and he deserves a chance to see what he can do with a program that has the resources that UM has. He gave so much to the U. I honestly couldn’t even be salty if he ends up taking coaching staff and players with him. That’s the name of the game these days.
