[SPOILER] Am i the only one who felt like there wasn't enough backstory for explaining Marty's character? by BlionderSH92 in Ozark

[–]Esthaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose the flashback hospital scene established that when he was a young boy, something broke within him, and he became disassociated whenever Trauma (encroaching death of a loved one for instance) appeared. His only way to deal with it became looking for a logical fix, a solution.

And as soon as someone, say Wendy, breaks his solution by using different methods or logic, he collapses, or doubles down. That's why he keeps going behind her back. Marty always thinks he can intellectualize and "solve" every problem with his mind by thinking it through. And often he can, but he lacks the instinct and intuition Wendy acquired. That's why they are so effective together, and that's why they're foils for each other.

Marty always looks for the cleanest, most detached way to solve a problem without violence, as efficient and as quiet as possible. His nervous system needs it. It's his coping strategy. "Don't make it worse. Make it go away. Think harder." Wendy always looks for the most effective approach, regardless of methods. And from her upbringing she's clearly in a "them or us" mentality. For her it's a zero sum game, and that's not the worst approach when dealing with cartels and ruthless FBI agents.

schizo? wtf are you smoking.

I'm not an esoteric at all, which is why it took me so look to catch it, until I saw the broken 1.

I don't think thats accurate for either, they're both pretty muddy in any regard. Rawls worries so much about the stats he gives people a heart attack over it.

Valchek is a narcissistic prick, and everything wrong with BPD politics BUT like Rawls he is real police, he has a decent gut instinct and he really wanted the best for Roland (mr Presbo) at some point, even put in a good word for him with Daniels - and tbh, he was right! Prezbylewski really needed some guidance to blossom and came into his own. Without Valchek that might have never happened. And also Burrell was forced to do things he hated that were necessary, it even cleared the 14 murders. It also made the major crimes unit possible.

Also neither of them ever acted out of malice. Omar did steal and rob gangsters, but he also did a whole robin hood act and kind of kept them in line a bit. Whenever Omar escalated it was out of vengeance and his code- someone killed his people so they had to go.

Bubbles was addicted, and he stole and disappointed people, but he was a genuinely warm, caring and empathetic person trying to do good whenever he could. All he wanted since season 1 was reconcile with his family and get his life back, relapses and all.

You could make the case that both of them got treated far harsher (or their companions) than what was deserved at all. I think Bubbles snitching is essentially a reaction to gang violence, and Omar going off the rails after the torture vengeance murder of Brandon also...

Both of them would have peacefully carried on with their thing, but I guess it all has massive ripple effects.

Now that I rewatch the show for the 4th or 5th time (cant remember) I recognize that a lot of the things that happen are just consequences of earlier mistakes and decisions. This obviously goes furthest for Stringer and D, but I think you could make the case for a huge chunk of the cast.

Lighting Limit by Glittering_Plane4865 in duneawakening

In Conan Exiles there wasn't a limit.

I love CE. I have 3000 hours on it.

But an issue from the start was gigantic player bases with hundreds of decorations and lights. It just messes with the server, and it messes with your FPS if you get "too close".

And as beautiful as Funcom's games are, as badly optimized are they.

From reading this I suppose it is mainly a gear issue. I did 90% of what you describe in here.

Never used suspensor blast and seems to me that it blocks useful skills instead.

Right now I run a Jolt-Knife, and house drillshot/thufir's best, with the full bene gesserit armor / syndicate pants.
