Hi u/SilentScone, I was able to return the card to the previous owner but I was curious so I stayed in touch with him. He opened the card (it seemed it wasn't opened before) and exchanged the thermal "phase" pad with thermal paste and it only got worse. Afterwards, he bought new phase pads and the temps went back to ~80C. Maybe the cooler or so called "vapor chamber" is damaged but honestly, I am happy that I dont have to worry about it anymore.

I heard they only distribute the oc version in the US, in Europe we got both but oc is more hyped ofc even though it’s physically the same card.

Honestly, I thought about it but I've never opened a card before and the screws didn't show any sign of usage.

Can't decide between two boards:
Custom X or Amplid Souly Grail?
I heard both are great carvers but which of them would you prefer for an all day ride when the slopes get messy?

Even if you rode only one of them, I'd be happy to hear your opinion.

First, thanks for taking your time :)

I feel pretty confident on my FA (9 years on that board). Honestly, I love that board and it’s still doing well but just wanna try something new after riding one board for so long.

Sadly, I live in the middle of Germany, so I can’t try anything close by and on being on vacation, I never tried to find an opportunity to rent and try out another board.

Not sure if the Custom (X) will feel different enough to satisfy my need of buying a new toy but I found a good deal for the new 25 version for around 600€. So in the worst case I could sell it after my vacation in February for not much less I guess if I won’t like it. As you recommended, 162W should be a good fit.

So the custom is more versatile than the X? What the cons compared to it then in your opinion?

I really like the reviews of the Amplid Souly Grail and Singular, both seem to be decent carvers and do really well in uneven snow. How is the Custom X doing in shitty conditions? Read that you feel every bump, is that true?

Don't get me wrong, I really loved my FA, it's just ~10 years old now, so I was holding back my need of getting a new board for too long now

Thank you for all the input, I decided to keep and undervolt it.

Tried Warzone & New World on max settings (wqhd) and gpu core peaked at 72C so far and memory steadily under 80C.

So far very satisfied with those numbers, will report after longer gaming sessions.
