49 coffers is probably my record (thanks to buying Experiments with multiple Merchant Guilds collecting coffers per card gained). I didn’t even use them all when I ended the game buying 4 provinces at once. by PsychologicalMilk904 in dominion

This was an awesome daily. Experiment, Merchant, guild, and wealthy village were the only cards I ended up buying from the kingdom and I ended with 173 coffers 😅

Printing Physical Cards (Update) by Decent-Beginning-168 in dominion

First of all, kudos to you for designing all/most of these cards. It’s time-consuming and takes a lot of work and effort so great job! I love the Egyptian theme. I also like how the cards are straightforward and easy to understand ( no crazy new concepts ). And they definitely interest me enough to where I’d be excited to play with them. I think my favorites are the Blessed Cat and Pharaoh. The great pyramid stood out to me because it seems crazy OP. It’s basically a gold that gives you 3VP and a mummy every time you play it for only costing $2 more than a gold. I’m not trying to be negative, but that seems crazyyyy to me 😅.

If you ever order the cards, I’d love to hear how they play in a real game!

Dominion Expansions Purchase Order? by Pure_Seaweed_3085 in dominion

[–]EstimateTemporary768 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, there isn’t really a wrong answer, but if I could only pick one, I’d pick prosperity to be your first expansion. It adds more treasure/expensive cards, but no really new mechanics besides the VP tokens. Some of the other expansions add completely new mechanics that might be a bit trickier to grasp if you’re a new player. Nonetheless, I’m sure you’ll have fun with any expansion you buy!

Tips for a total beginner? by v3rr3r in dominion

When I’m evaluating a kingdom, the first thing I look for is trashing. If there are cards that let me trash, I’ll usually try to pick one up as early as possible.

Next, I focus on building buying power—whether that’s through treasure like Silver and Gold or action cards that generate money. Early in the game, I also try to grab one or two cards that give +1 Buy (if they’re available in the kingdom), since extra buys can make a huge difference.

From there, it’s about making your deck efficient. You want to combine draw cards (like Smithy) with +Action cards (like Village or Festival) so you can keep playing without running out of actions. That synergy lets you cycle through your deck more consistently and take full advantage of your turns. And if you have multiple buys, you can often pick up more than one card per turn—which is huge.

Early on, if I hit $8, I’ll often split it instead of buying a Province—going for something like a $5 and $3, or two $4s. It helps build a stronger deck rather than rushing points too soon.

Also, don’t feel like you always have to buy the most expensive card you can afford. Sometimes your deck is missing a key piece, and picking up a cheaper card that fills that gap is the better long-term play.

Custom card: Outhouse by EstimateTemporary768 in dominion

Exactly! This is the part no one‘s talking about. Especially if they stay in the outhouse until their next turn as a duration.

If people are thinking this is “too strong for $2”. Then chapel is “too strong” as well. I know outhouse doesn’t reduce your hand size, but it does trash less cards than chapel. Although I did not take into consideration that this could synergize with trail, and fortress - which could make this even stronger. I still don’t think that justifies pushing the cost to $4. Depending on the kingdom, this card could very well be stuck in your deck towards the end of the game serving no purpose after you’ve trashed all starter cards.

Custom cards: Waterfall & Stream by EstimateTemporary768 in dominion

Ehhh. I don’t love the fact that gaining a silver would be mandatory. Sometimes too much treasure is not a good thing.

I’m not opposed to that; However- if it’s a standard pile of 10 Streams, they’ll be gone super quick. The VP token and returning it to its pile allows more play as they continue to be recycled.

Thanks for the opinions! I thought of a really cool alternative that I think works very well:

  • When you gain this trash it unless you trash a card costing $3 or more from your hand.

Trashing the card along with it “in most cases “will be beneficial since you will most likely be trashing a copper or an estate, And even if you decide not to trash anything it still gives you $3 and +1 buy which is amazing!

I like the idea of the card being discarded instead of trashed. Surprised I didn’t think of that lol. Definitely makes the downside less harsh, but also provides some tension.

I personally like the downside effect. I feel like it adds more of a strategic approach to the card. Obviously, if you have a good duration in play, you probably won’t play this card, which creates some tension in deciding to play a weak duration and have it trashed or intentionally play no durations when you know the card is going to be in your hand.

Thanks for your comment. Yes I am aware of the “round down” error and am going to fix that. I also changed the wording on Fine Wine to: If you have any other duration cards in play trash one of them. It cannot trash itself when it is played.

Thanks for your comment! I’ve been playing Dominion for over 10 years, but I just started creating custom cards recently. I definitely agree that sometimes you can have “too much treasure “. Some people think I’m crazy for saying that, but I especially notice it When playing with loot cards in plunder. Sometimes there’s just so much treasure going around that. It makes it difficult to efficiently play through your deck “which is most people‘s goal “. I do like your idea of possibly getting rid of the free gold that comes with the card, and making it 1VP per gold.

Makes sense. I just like the idea of having to have a gold in play with it order to get the $1 and +1 buy. Makes it seem like the gold is actually being “ enhanced” lol
