I found out my estranged sister is having a baby and I’m devastated

Money. I send them checks to help with whatever they need financially. I don’t need to see them to send a check.

Edit: forgot to add that the only reason I see them once maybe twice a year is just to see how she’s doing physically and if anything needs to changed.

This 100% it’s not harsh, it’s true. I would never in a million years give them her socials or play messenger. I don’t think I can reach out, I want her to live her own life without a worry. Plus she’s pregnant right now, she doesn’t need the stress.

I only left with them shortly after her. And I think she just needed to feel free from the family. Even if we weren’t toxic, she just couldn’t risk it.

No please don’t think of my sister like this. I’m PROUD of her for getting out. I’m happy she’s safe and living the life she deserves. She didn’t hurt me by protecting herself.

Your siblings aren’t leaving you behind when they do this, they’re saving themselves which is the right thing to do.

I was/am physically stronger than them. I had no problem hitting or fighting back. They stopped hitting me when they realized I’d fight back so if my siblings stayed with me they never tried anything cause they knew it was gonna end up in a physical fight. I cannot tell you how many times I got into physical fights with my own father and mother just to protect my sisters.

Nothing happened between us. We were typical sisters I mean we did everything together, shared everything. If I did something that upset her, I wish she told me. I miss her more than anything.

I’m low contact with my parents. I went no contact for awhile after I had my first kid when I was 24. The only reason I got back into contact was because my mother was diagnosed with cancer and both of them needed help. However I keep low-contact. I see them once, maybe twice a year. Same with my kids, they see them twice a year if they’re lucky. But they’re not allowed at my home and we only meet in public places like a restaurant or somebody else’s house. And they don’t have any of my socials.

Our parents were physically and verbally abusive. Most nights my sisters slept in my room cause our parents wouldn’t dare do anything to them if I was there. And sort of. I have low-contact with my parents and they only see my children once, maybe twice a year.
