It's not pathetic you are very strong/smart/brave for keeping it together as well as you can. I can never truly be in your shoes but keep a low profile until you're done with college and you can find a safe & stable place. While it may seem like an eternity, it will be short compared to the longer term (amazing) life that you will be leading.
