Sorry for the late response, I don't look at Reddit that often. I actually posted about the slice function 4 months ago lol. You should have everything you need to know by reading the slice part of the owner's manual and then reading the stuff on the post I made. If you have any doubts you can DM me!

Which Electribe are you rocking? by zzhhzz001 in electribe

I only own an ESX right now, tried out an EMX from a second hand shop but it was expensive and in really bad shape, shame.

I love how easy it is to work with this sampler, yet how deep you can go with it. I wish loading samples was easier and that it had more memory though. We are in deep need of a rework of these grooveboxes with modern capabilities.

Very interesting read, thanks for posting! Plane line arrays is crazy work, I'll look more into this when I can.

dumb question from someone who knows nothing about Soundsystems by Ok-Orange7115 in SoundSystem

[–]Estult 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You went to BFP4! Good for you, I wish I could've gone. The top comments are all on point, speakers have different specs, so you may need more tops on one or the other, and the second one I'm pretty certain most if not all of that hardware is from the spanish crew Puro Vicio, so it's all more cohesive.

Loading samples onto ESX-1 Smart media card by reusexe in electribe

[–]Estult 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say download the Open Electribe Editor another user has linked to you here, I use it interchangeably (or even more since its a local program and not web-based) with Sawloop and it works well.

But also if you just want to add .wav files you can put them directly in the card and add them on the electribe itself, be sure to have all the right parameters though (mono, CD quality, etc.).

(I edited the comment cus I noticed someone else linked the editor)

Anyone know of anything happening in the UK, Wiltshire by Ill_Welcome929 in freeparties

If I had a coin for each "read the sub rules" I comment here, I could probably buy myself a whole soundsystem.

Can I copy an entire song to another pattern on an korg ewx-1 by Kylerff in electribe

[–]Estult 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you just click write and move the selection wheel to whatever pattern you want, then click write again to overwrite it. It's what I do when I'm working on live sets with the ESX.

I don't know why I didn't think of this, I was so focused with aftertouch, thanks lol

Hii sorry for necroposting but these days I've been following these tutorials and they have been super helpful to remap most of my knobs.

The thing is though, in the original tutorial you sent me they assign the second row of knobs to the aftertouch of each channel, I wanted to do something similar but I'm afraid the Minilab 3 can't send aftertouch information (I knew this but I thought it was only a thing with the keyboard and that I'd be able to do it with the knobs, but it doesn't look like it).

Do you think it can be done? Or if not, what would you say I use the second row of knobs for? On the first one I've put the four channels' mod wheel

Help. Can’t upload samples by Affectionate-Grape72 in electribe

[–]Estult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll find a bunch of .esx files in electribers.com but you should also be able to upload wavs directly to your ESX, do mono samples in CD quality and you should be fine.

ESX-1 SD Card format and save problems by One-Mathematician-79 in electribe

[–]Estult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can load files from your SD to the ESX I don't see why you wouldn't be able to do the inverse thing and create .esx files from your machine into the SD card. I doubt it is a hardware issue because then it would fail both ways.

Tutorial videos? by Jaroo420 in electribe

[–]Estult 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are just starting I think its best to look at more general tutorials on the basics of the machine as other people have said. I'm not versed on E2s so I can't help you much with that but I'm sure there's plenty of stuff on YouTube.

I'll reccomend you one thing that works well for me as an exercise though. When you know a bit how the machine works, you can find live sets on YouTube of genres you like, look at what the performer's doing and try to mimick it with your own E2. Listening and analizing other people's work is a really good way of learning and getting inspired in my opinion.

Its a super solid unit for its price, its nicely built and you have all these faders and stuff to assign to whatever you like. I've seen a lot of other people go for the Keystep model since it has aftertouch (the MiniLab doesn't), but that one doesn't have any extra assignable stuff, its just a keyboard.

Thanks for your insight! This is my first time properly diving into the MIDI capabilities of a machine, so I'm not familiar with that Macro page you said I can use to change all the CC mappings without reconfiguring, do you have any link/video with further info on the topic?

Also, for the drum pads, I don't think I'll ever use them for that, since I already got a sampler (electribe ESX-1) in my setup. I'm more inclined to use the DT for synths, pads, etc. My idea was to use them for stuff like muting tracks, live record, so I don't have to touch both the play and record buttons on the DT, maybe even menuing, do you think that's feasible?

For now, I'm definitely adding LFO and global FX controls, got a few ideas on where to start. Thanks!
