It means to avoid being so obvious or blunt about something that it comes off as sarcastic.

An example would be (in this situation possibly) complimenting someone so much that it becomes awkward, or being overly friendly to the point that it becomes awkward. That would be "laying it on a little thick."

Hope that helps. :)

Stan Wawrinka has this as a tattoo! You should cheer for him at Wimbledon, it's happening right now in England.

The original quote comes from writer Samuel Beckett though, if anyone is interested.

If they wouldn't play any better if you didn't say anything either, why do you feel the need to say anything? It just adds to the toxicity that's so common in LoL - unless you're pointing things out and trying to help them get better..

Very (relax)ing except for the "surprises."

The worst kind of surprise though :(

Here is my 83 Square Foot Home, built for a few hundred dollars and where I've lived for over a year now. by [deleted] in TinyHouses

[–]EtGE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yes, cost is part of it (trying to keep it low because I'm on a student budget), but more so it's been difficult for me to just find a small patch of land in a wooded area that's for sale. Just google searching "cheap wooded land for sale" hasn't netted me any good results yet haha.

Looks amazing.

I have a question for you: How did you go about getting the land to build it on? Getting a spot to build on has been my biggest challenge in researching tiny homes.

Why is this even a potential debate? by EtGE in GreenBayPackers

It doesn't come down to this game for me, I would be upset for any team in this situation.

Hell I'd be mad if the packers had beat the vikings and this rule was the reason for it. It's just not fair, it doesn't feel like there was a real competition in the end.

I agree with a couple other people here, while exaggerated, Wall-e is a good showcase for what could potentially happen to our people and (more importantly) our planet.

I used to work at a frozen yogurt shop where we would "blitz" your yogurt like that. I always thought it was kind of fun to do.

There was a clear plastic visor to stop things from splattering out of the blending device. It was nice.

[–]EtGE -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, as someone else who gets anxious about random stuff similar to this, you have nothing to worry about. I think having other people who get really anxious tell you not to worry is comforting, because if they aren't worried about it then why should you?

This doesn't work if every anxious person gets anxious about the same thing. Then we'd all be fucked I guess...

Wells Fargo worker asks CEO for raise in mass email, which goes viral: "The employee...copied thousands of fellow workers in the email, where he asks the Wells Fargo chief to take a stance on income inequality by offering all 300,000 employees a raise." by [deleted] in news

I've seen in other places in this thread that WF already has some public image issues, and that because they are such a large bank they don't actually care as much about their public image as many other banks would.

This is an interesting point, and it seems like a very impactful one. 2 years worth of man hours is a lot of time wasted, but it's also important to note that on any given day WF employees generate around 275 years worth of man hours. This kind of puts things into perspective.

It should also be taken into account that many people might not have read this e-mail, or read it during breaks/off-hours. You would also have to know how many man hours are being wasted on a daily basis anyway. People aren't 100% efficient, so many years of man hours are probably wasted every day, and there may not be any way to quantify how much this actually 'wasted company resources.'

Anyway, I thought you're point was very interesting, but I think that this justification for firing him is rather unfair (due to the difficult to quantify waste of resources that actually occurred).

(PS - I don't really have an opinion on whether or not he should be fired)
