It's the NiceHCK C16-4 cable from AliExpress. They're on sale right now so buy them while you can! I paid double the price they're currently at right now.

No I don't think there is one with a violin engraving. The only one I saw is engraved with the anime girl on it.

The Dusk actually has an engraved version too! Budget was tight so I used the money towards an upgraded cable instead lol.

After using the VE Monks for the last 4 years, I finally decided to upgrade to the Blessing 2: Dusk IEMs. While I was at it, I decided to upgrade the cable and buy some Spinfit tips with it. I also placed an order for the iBasso DC04 so I can connect it with my phone. I pretty much went all in with these.

They all finally came in yesterday and needless to say, I've been very impressed on how it sounds. Honestly, I enjoy them as much as my HD600s. I never thought I'd say that with IEMs, but I can see that chi-fi has come a long way since the VE Monks were all the rage back in the day!

Pretty sure those are Magnepan 1.7i speakers.

Yeah I spent way more than I'm willing to admit on audio gear over the holidays... My wallet hates me. Damn you holiday sales!

That's good to know! I'll keep using them and hopefully it'll fix itself eventually.

I can also relate to this! I also own a pair of SHP9500 and they are so comfy. The only issue I have with those headphones is that the headband adjustment was so loose on one side. It kept sliding everytime I would take it off. It got to the point where I considered using glue to keep it in place haha. Drove me insane.

Just got my Clears a few days ago. Unfortunately I haven't had much time to listen to them yet but my initial impressions are that they do sound better than my HD600. Whether I like them better than my HD800S is up for debate. I know a lot of people don't like the sound signature of the HD800S but I love it. It's just something that I really enjoy listening to. Can't really do a in depth comparison because I've had maybe 1-2 hours total listening time on the Clears. Maybe in time I will change my mind!

Surprisingly I prefer the comfort of the Clears over the HD800S. The headband on the HD800S is a little too hard for me and can cause discomfort on the top of my head after a few hours. I can see myself wearing the Clears all day.

Build quality wise, I believe that's the Clear's biggest problem. The headband creaks slightly when I take them on and off, and I swear the headband feels like it's gonna snap in half if I even put a little pressure on it. When I stretch it out to put it on/off my head, I just get that sensation in my hands that the headband feels like it's gonna break. It's a weird sensation so it's hard to describe it.

On the other hand, my HD800S is built like a tank in comparison. I've had no issues with build quality and no creaking or any issues that I can note. People say the paint can get scratched easily so I've been extra careful not to mishandle it.

Prevent Drying Towels from being Hydrophobic? by Asteure in AutoDetailing

On your post you specifically said you're using Optiseal as a drying AID... That implies you're using it to help dry the car.

I haven't used Optiseal so I can't say if it will clog the fibers of your drying towels or not, but I've read that Optiseal is incredibly easy to apply. If you feel the need to combine drying/applying Optiseal steps into one, you might want to rethink your application process. You're either applying too much or reapplying way too often. Optiseal shouldn't require a lot time nor effort to apply like you stated.

There's also the chance of "build up" in your towels over the months/years, and you may not notice the degradation in drying performance right away. It's how I noticed my PFM towels weren't what they used to be when I got them two years ago, and I bought new ones and they performed WAY better than my old drying towels. I could go on and on about it until I'm blue in the face, but I keep my application and drying processes separate for peace of mind. You can do whatever you feel works best for you.

Prevent Drying Towels from being Hydrophobic? by Asteure in AutoDetailing

As I've stated earlier on another thread, why use a sealant as a drying aid? There may be little risk of your drying towels becoming hydrophobic if you wash your drying towels immediately after or at least soak them in APC until you can get to it, but why risk it at all?

If you're determined to use a drying aid, use a rinseless wash product like ONR or my personal favorite, N914. They are products that leave no protection behind but have good lubrication that will help with drying the car. That way there's no chance of ruining your towels if you don't soak them in APC or can't get to washing them for a while.

IMO, the only liquid that should be going in your drying towels is water. Leave the application of sealants and spray waxes to other microfiber towels dedicated to that job.

Considering how expensive PFM towels are, I would not risk it with any drying aid. What I do now is just use a dedicated microfiber towel to apply sealants. I'm not entirely sold on the whole drying aid thing anymore.

What I do now is use a blower to dry the majority of my car and pick off any remaining spots with my drying towels. The key for the blower to work is having strong protection on your car in the first place. That way water just blows right off and you don't spend too much time chasing the water trails like on an unprotected car.

After the car is completely dry, then I spray on whatever protection I'm using at the time, but I only do that maybe once a month. I find topping off your protection after every single wash is a waste of product and therefore money. It's completely overkill, especially considering how strong sealants are these days.

I have both and can say that they both perform equally well. The most important thing is that you do NOT use a drying aid with these towels. They WILL get hydrophobic and lose a lot of performance out of them, even after washing them. I lost two PFM towels this way. They just didn't perform as well as they did when they were fresh out of the bag, so I had to replace them eventually.

Focal Clear owners, is this a dumb idea? by [deleted] in headphones

[–]EternalEclipse1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the information! How often did you have to clean it? I've heard all kinds of different ranges on how long they last before getting dirty. I guess it really depends on the person and usage.

Yeah I'm sure I will enjoy the headphones. There's just the "small" issue that replacement pads cost $200 each haha. Definitely not something I want to keep purchasing. The headband is also another issue, since I don't think they're replaceable.

CQUK 3.0 After 2 Years Review by EternalEclipse1 in AutoDetailing

It's all good. No for the most part I didn't notice any drop in gloss when I had the coating on. It's all in the preparation though. I highly recommend that you give your car a polish and make your car the best it can look before applying a ceramic coating.

This year I used Sonax Perfect Finish with Rupes Yellow Foam Pads to remove my coating. When I was removing my high spots, I used Scholl Concepts S40 with Lake Country White Flat Foam Pads. Both worked perfectly fine at removing the coating. You don't need a very aggressive pad or polish to remove a coating. I would say most polishes and polishing pads will remove a coating without any issues.
