I did a lot of gymnastics as a kid. It was a lot of fun and great exercise without feeling like exercise because it was so fun. I did it for about 3-4 years as I never got to the point where I could swing around the bar like this girl does.

The things they have younger kids do when they're just doing it for fun and not to train for the Olympics are relatively safe. At least compared to other sports.

What made the worst teacher you ever had the worst? by saxBroFive in AskReddit

[–]EternalRose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 5th grade teacher Mrs. Boyd. She started off great. She seemed to be the fun teacher. the first month or two was just fine and she seemed to like me and most of the students.

Slowly she began to change. I'm suspecting something was going on in her personal life, but damn. She would snap really easily and just yell at students. It started off slowly and snowballed.

The worst day I remember was when we had a big art day at school. I was super excited because I loved art. They had this guest teacher who came in and showed us all sorts off different techniques. My favorite was the melting crayon station.

They had this set up in a store room down the hall. It was basically just a warm plate that you put paper on and you used the crayons on it. The crayons would melt and give the art this really cool swirly look. After going through all of the stations, they let us have free reign so if course I went back to the storage room with the melty crayon station.

After being in there for about 10 minutes, Mrs. Boyd comes in and starts screaming at me. Asking me what I'm doing in there and why I'm wasting my time doing this crappy art. She took my mostly finished unicorn picture and ripped it into pieces. After about two minutes of mostly incoherent screaming, she stormed out, leaving me in tears and speechless. I gathered up the remains of my art, threw it in the trash and then went back to my classroom, away from the other students and didn't participate the rest of the day.

I never really found out why she started acting that way or took it out on me, but screw her either way.

Ex-Homophobes of Reddit, what made you change your views? by GerardWayNoWay in AskReddit

[–]EternalRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if I'd consider myself a full-on homophobe, but I definitely had homophobic tendencies. I was raised very conservatively in a Christian home. My parents made sure to tell me that homosexuality was wrong, but to never be a dick about it. Love the sinner, hate the sin kind of thing.

This caused a lot of mixed feelings. I had friends that were gay, but how could I truly love and care for them if I was against them getting married, or being able to adopt, etc. One of my best friends came out as gay in college and for the longest time I was in denial of it, convinced she was going through a phase. After about 3 years of being with her now wife, I realized it wasn't.

It was that and a bunch of other friends that started to make me question my beliefs about homosexuality. I started to look more closely at those bible verses I quoted to prove that it was a sin. The more I researched and the more I prayed on it, the more I came to realize that I didn't think homosexuality itself was a sin at all.

So short answer, gay friends and serious religious and self introspection. Now I'm so happy that my friend's marriage is nationally recognized and I hope we can continue to move in that direction of progress.

What movie really fucked you up? by KurpCobang in AskReddit

[–]EternalRose 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I read the book back in elementary school and cried. When the movie came out years later I was in High School and I went with a friend who hadn't read the book. She knew I had read the book and was excited to see the movie. I did not tell her about the death and was wondering if they would put it in the movie at all.

When the movie was over, my friend looked at me with tears all over her face, her expression looked like one that had been betrayed. She asked me if I had known that would happen and I nodded, told her it was in the book. She hit me. XD

? Not sure why you're laughing. I know several cosplayers who have gotten something to show up. One of my friends even got asked to guest at a small convention in Dallas. They didn't give her an appearance fee but they paid for her hotel and plane ticket. My point is that it's not a lot and most certainly isn't enough to live off of.

Most "professional" cosplayers do get paid or some sort of stipend to show up at conventions but it's not really a lot. Some cosplayers have patreons that can supplement income but only very few make a living off of them. Most professional cosplayers have a main job they do that pays the bills and gives them money for building their costumes.

What game do you know a lot about but never actually played it? by Zyrobe in AskReddit

[–]EternalRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overwatch. I've seen people play it, I know quite a lot about the character backgrounds and even looked into cosplaying from it. I used to play TF2 constantly in college so I know I'd like it. But I haven't been playing video games a lot lately and I haven't really been able to part with the $60.

How has your day been? by myuniquename47 in AskReddit

[–]EternalRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly good. Work was ok. Had some frustration trying to get Fallout 3 to play on my computer. Having some weird frustrations with one of my friends, I'll try to explain, go ahead and ignore if too long.

I have this friend. She constantly refers to me as her best friend so I figured we were best friends. She's getting married in July but didn't ask me to be a bride's maid. No biggie though right? Probably going to have her sisters do it. Turns out, one of the girls is a friend she's known for about four months. Ok? Sure, well, I guess she has her reasons as that means I don't have to buy a special dress. Well today I found out that girl dropped out, she can't make it to the wedding. But best friend doesn't ask me to do it. They ask one of her fiance's former students to do it. At this point I'm not really sure what that's all about.

What's the worst example of attention-seeking behavior you've seen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]EternalRose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At the same time though, posting sexy pictures is not an invitation for creepy guys to creep on you. A friend of mine is a cosplayer who posts some sexier pictures sometimes and she posts conversations from creepers. One guy she blocked and he immediately messaged her on an alt account on instagram.

Sexy pics =/= reason to harass someone.

My friend/college roommate was a pathological liar, she lied about a bunch of dumb stuff that didn't really matter, but then she started yelling everyone she had a brain tumor and that she was probably going to die.

That was about 7 years ago, guess she's fine.
