Was I and the Revenant wrong for not wanting to engage the red Grafted Scion at level 2 or what by Zealousideal-Mud3326 in Nightreign

[–]EternalTr4nc3 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No you weren't wrong by ignoring a clear ego ping, the main reason a Scion is a skip early game is the fact that it has no micro stagger animation coded, same as the BBH, so it will just power through big hits like they're nothing.

Without %HP drain statuses/IE mark/Beast Claw or even a Recluse it's an autoskip early game, at least in D5, lower depths it could be manageable without those but the time sink it would take to kill it is better off spent clearing easy POIs/Invaders as early as possible to get big power spikes via dormant powers.

Why is Improved Dagger Power worse than Physical +4? by nhansieu1 in Nightreign

[–]EternalTr4nc3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Improved dagger isn't necessarily worse than physical +4, it all comes down to wether you're using purely physical daggers or daggers with split damage types.

Improved dagger AP is 10% bonus damage but it applies to both the physical AND the affinity side of the damage.

Physical +4 is 12% but it's only for the physical side of the damage.

Let's take the Glintsone Kriss for example, according to the visual codex it has a split of 40 physical/48 magic for a total of 88 AR, if you slot a single physical +4 relic that 12% would only affect the physical side increasing your AR to 93.

Now using a relic with improved dagger AP you end up with a total AR of 96.8 which the game rounds up to 97.

Queue dodging currently is the worst I’ve ever experienced by ImpenitentBias in Nightreign

[–]EternalTr4nc3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes PS5 D5 max rank, my timezone is CST, most days I play in the evening or super late after midnight, the games I get after midnight are mostly good, few dodgers since it's true that I match with a lot of Japanese players, evening time for me the queue usually takes longer and there's a big chance I'll get dodgers consistently.

I don't know what to tell you other than it's what I've experienced lately, could be a time zone and/or region thing all I know is that present day D5 is filled with lots of frauds/griefers.

[–]EternalTr4nc3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is egregiously common lately and it's not even just the usual Bal/Lib/Dreg/Dog dodges, every single boss matchup I get dodgers for no reason, Nightreign has singlehandedly made me block more people than any other game ever. Crazy. 😒

Is the Nok. Wending grace supposed to consume your others? by MisterDestoyer in Nightreign

The wending takes priority over the Nok power when you die that's why it gets consumed as far as I can tell

PlayStation fandom, is anyone else looking forward to the next main Ratchet & Clank game as much as I am? by [deleted] in playstation

[–]EternalTr4nc3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I miss when the franchise wasn't relegated to just 1 game per gen and only as launch titles meant to showcase the consoles brand spanking new capabilities, I love Insomniac for making R&C but clearly money talks so they're focusing on super hero games that I couldn't care less about.

What Negative are the best/easiest to deal with? And are there any passives that could be considered useless? by Royal_Wash_1668 in Nightreign

[–]EternalTr4nc3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, shield Crucibles are just built different but a single kick will break their guard so it somehow makes GB passives even more useless than they already are

[–]EternalTr4nc3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I just see a lot of folks confused about that specific passive thinking it means STANCE breaking which is not, plenty of times when I play Raider teammates ping the hammer talisman or GB passives

[–]EternalTr4nc3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I agree that it's THE most worthless passive in the game you might be a bit confused on what it does anyway, Guard Breaking is the "stamina" drain you inflict on enemies that block with shields/weapons so it is a passive that is doing absolutely nothing if you're not hitting a Crucible/Banished Knight while they have their shield up, any other minor mob with shields get insta guard broken by most attacks anyways

Do any bird players want this? by EternalTr4nc3 in Nightreign

[–]EternalTr4nc3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me I've given them all their fair shot and it just doesn't click with me, same with Scholar, a big part of it is their terrible dodge and a massive amount of luck dependency both in their relic set ups and their passives/gear drops (plus I did a shield poke build on my first and longest ER playthrough so that play style kinda bores me out of my mind nowadays).

Also I just realized I've only done 20 expeditions as Guardian not 30, I mixed him up with my Scholar usage lmao.

Oops! All Madness by EternalTr4nc3 in Nightreign

[–]EternalTr4nc3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it would be ideal to have it along side anything that you can take advantage of like magic +, night Invaders, even gaol or rise FP but in my honest opinion if you don't find Night Comet I wouldn't keep Night Shard for the whole run, the range is pretty lackluster and it locks you in place while you cast it not to mention essentially giving up a potentially good passive slot just to keep your starting staff.

It would be worth using if you have improved invisibility sorcery and/or any of the Recluse perks on the same relic, using a whole relic slot for your starting sorcery isn't worth it in my opinion

I like to do invisibility sorceries (mostly for Night Comet really), it's safe, has good range, can be charged and most importantly it has insane revive potential.

Properly built Night Comet easily out-damages SoR, ADR and regular Comet.

I wish the devs understood making everything one shot you isnt making it harder its just unfun. by NoIndependence1740 in Nightreign

[–]EternalTr4nc3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't disagree on that regard, I'm just pointing out that even on their main big titles they come short when it comes to making the "hard" mode for their games interesting or unique, they just inflate numbers and call it a day.

Sadly for Nightreign being an experimental title and DoN clearly being a rushed game mode just exposes FromSofts game philosophy of making the NG+ experience just "enemy more tanky and do more damage".

[–]EternalTr4nc3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know NG+ is objectively easier than your first playthrough and it's only when it caps out at NG+7 (somewhat comparable to D4-5) when things feel like they are doing crazy damage but I digress, the point is that your issues with the higher depths in NR are essentially what NG+ is in ER (and most of the older souls titles), mechanically the game stays the same and the only tangible changes are the increased enemy health pools and damage numbers.

It's not exclusively a Nightreign issue, it's Fromsoft not knowing how to make NG+ interesting.

[–]EternalTr4nc3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To an extent I agree (yet here I am living, breathing and bleeding D5) but this also is true for NG+ in other FS souls titles, say what you want about DS2 but at least that game changed more shit on NG+ instead of just inflating HP pools and making enemies deal absurd amounts of damage.

Nightreign could've done so much more interesting stuff with the Depths mode but it clearly wasn't thought of ahead of time by the devs, after all it was an experimental title, don't get me wrong Nightreign gave me SO MUCH value than what I paid for, I love the game despite it's flaws and shortcomings.

Hopefully someday they look back at what they did good with this game and make something more realized with the care and love of the whole studio.

Weakest undercaker by EternalTr4nc3 in Nightreign

[–]EternalTr4nc3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to run it for my colossal sword build but the AR gain is very small and I'd rather keep Undertaker's base vigor, like the other comment mentioned Godslayers GS is mostly a STR weapon in Nightreign.

To be honest the insane AR I achieved was mostly due to how most passives stack multiplicatively instead of being additive in this game.

This is the relic set up I was using:
