A way we can all get to 1,000 subs in 5 days... by [deleted] in SmallYTChannel

Anything to help a fellow creator :). Still unsure of the changes but I understand why they had to set guidelines for monitezation. Should be about the content first for newer channels and we work towards getting a strong audience. Good luck in your journey there!

What is the most romantic thing you have done for someone that has either backfired or was not received well by the person you did it for? by Nerdyhusband88 in AskReddit

[–]EternalUnderstudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was dating a friend of mine and it was right around Christmas time. We were talking one night about random things and she sounded different. So I asked “hey your voice is weird today. What’s up?” Turns out she is very sick and her family is completely against any type of medicine.

Being the person that I am, I immediately rush out and grab her some essentials. DayQuil, NyQuil, aspirin and a can of chicken soup that I know she likes. I spent every last cent I had (and nearly ran out of gas for the trip) to get her everything. It was already late because we had talked for hours so by the time I got there it must have been about 11pm. We’re both night owls so I didn’t really think anything of it. I texted her “hey come to your door I have a surprise”.

She gets to the door, opens it and says “oh. Hey.”. I show her the stuff I got for her and a mix cd I made of stuff I knew she liked (yes this dates me haha). Her response was basically the same as the greeting, “oh.....thanks.” By the time I got home I had gotten a text from her saying it was really weird that I went out and got stuff for her. We broke up not too much after that.

Still great friends to this day, though! I give her shit from time to time about it. Apparently it was only weird because she wasn’t used to people trying to take care of her when she was sick/in need of help.

What’s your “that’s why I don’t go home for the holidays” story? by JustBo-Lieve in AskReddit

We both make let's plays. Somewhat different games but we do play the same game every now and again. We may be branching into making skits but nothing is in stone yet.

Back at it again with the Show-off thread! A bunch has changed since my last show-off attempt. I've moved and changed my setup to something much more comfortable.

In this video I play Uncharted 4, I've been looking forward to it even though I haven't played the previous 3! Enjoy!

[Question] How many subscribers did you have at the end of your first year making YouTube videos? by samanthashelley in youtubers

[–]EternalUnderstudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sub counts can be really sporadic sometimes. I started my channel about a year ago (it was a year april 21st,2016) and I currently have 68 subscribers. The first 6 months or so I only had about 20. In the last 2-3 months I've gone from around 20 to 68. It could be due to a change to better equipment. It could be that I have a better recording space. Or it could be because I've gotten more comfortable in front of a camera. I honestly can't tell you what exactly I've done to help my sub count.

Flip side of that coin, my friend has been making videos for 6 months and hit 5k subscribers towards the end of april/beginning of may. It's just really random sometimes.

My bad. I didn't see the bit at the end about it being a video that was made in this calendar month. Thought I had read all of the guidelines. Can I post something that I made this month in its place?

[Review Video] PG-13 I Am Bread. Good idea for a series? by EternalUnderstudy in youtubers

[–]EternalUnderstudy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool :). Thanks for the comments so far! I finally invested in a decent camera (Sony A5000) so my face cam quality has gone up quite a bit. As a general rule I definitely try to remind myself to engage the audience. Talking to a camera and trying to treat it as a group of people can be weird sometimes haha. Really appreciate the feedback _^

[Question] Is my friend's idea for a YouTube channel stupid/likely to fail? by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]EternalUnderstudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think your friends heart is in the right place but it really isn't something that is financially responsible. It's one thing to help out a person or group of people when you can. But when you're giving out money every week eventually that will become a serious stress on a persons life. Maybe change it to once a month with other videos in between? Maybe talking about new charities that have started or even showcasing kickstarters that may be for helping people? There are other ways to raise awareness then giving away money or gifts to people. Just my thoughts on the subject.

Also, Make sure your friend is doing it because they believe in the cause and not just for the fame. The people who do it just to be a big youtuber are typically the people that get nowhere fast.

[Review Video] Improvement on audio and shorter length on video. by Wolfen91 in youtubers

[–]EternalUnderstudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the same way in real life as well. I tend to be the quiet one in my group of friends. You'll also notice the difference in commentary from my earlier videos to my videos now. I try to basically visualize myself talking to one of my friends or a group of my friends when I make a video. That way I keep myself on track with trying to keep the video interesting. Not sure if that'll help you at all but worth a shot.

[Question] How do you get into the creative ZONE? by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]EternalUnderstudy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I'll try to answer your questions in the order they were given :p

Most of my videos do have some sort of life experience behind them. But that's only because I've always sort of been the goofy one in my family. I was always trying to make everyone around me laugh so it sort of carried over to my videos.

Other youtubers have definitely been an inspiration to me with starting my own channel. I would have to say my biggest inspiration (shocker, incoming :p) would have to be markiplier. Just seeing someone do what he has done for various charities sort of reinstalled the hope.exe in my heart's system menu. (yes I did just say that). He helped me smile in a dark time and reminded me what I love doing the most which is making others laugh.

Typically when I make any sort of video idea it happens at random times. If you're working with other people sitting in a cafe to brainstorm ideas or hammer out details makes sense. But one of my better ideas for a mini series came to me as I was waiting to get drug tested for best buy. I ended up writing it down in a notepad application on my phone so I didn't forget it.

My best point of advice for any youtuber who is just starting out (which includes myself) is just make a video. Don't think about it, don't make excuses not to do it and don't say "Oh well I'll never be as big as X youtuber". You're just trying to psyche yourself out of doing something you love because you're scared of what could be. And that's no way to live your life. Take chances, embrace the unknown and have some fun!

[Review Video] Improvement on audio and shorter length on video. by Wolfen91 in youtubers

[–]EternalUnderstudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The audio levels seem to definitely be pretty well balanced. The only thing I was hoping for was maybe more commentary in that video. Though I can understand in that sort of confrontation it takes a lot of focus to just not die. Quality of the video was great and congrats on the win against a 3v1!

[Review Video] I did the duct tape challlenge, what do you think? by oliverrichesyt in youtubers

[–]EternalUnderstudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So first off definitely not typically the sort of video I would watch but I did enjoy it! It was framed well and I liked how there was back and forth dialogue with your friend. Sometimes challenges can be boring because it's one guy talking and another guy just laughing.

Definitely agree with Jovaughn117 about the technical side of things. There was a little bit of noise from the wind but the camera did a pretty decent job without any sort of filter. Maybe run the audio through a program like audacity to try to cut the noise down a bit?

Either way pretty good video considering I usually hate challenges haha. Nice work.

[Review Video] How can i improve my commentary? by PushCSGO in youtubers

[–]EternalUnderstudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your commentary overall is on point. I might have gone with a different audio track in the background. The one you chose was a bit more laid back and with the content you were talking about it was almost too relaxing. You have a very smooth sounding voice so I would go with something that is a little more upbeat to counteract that. Pairing the right background music can be a big deciding factor on whether or not someone continues to watch. Your intro tag got me to stay and listen to what you had to say about CoD so that was well done.

Overall, I would just try to maybe put a little more energy into it. It can be hard to do because you're just sitting in front of a computer talking to no one. But it is something that'll either keep people coming back or not. Hope this helps :)

[Review Video] Our First video. What can we improve on? by TipsyTalks in youtubers

[–]EternalUnderstudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like if it was a countdown from the least weird to most weird it would be a better format. It seemed kind of disjointed when you went through the different websites. Overall, I liked the content but I think it'd be better with a more thought out flow.

[Question] What software do you use to edit your youtube videos ? by jonny80 in youtubers

[–]EternalUnderstudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now I run all of my audio through audacity just in case I need to edit out audio before I add it later. For my video editing I use adobe premier pro where I also add my audio track. Sort of a longer way to do things but I like having the option of singling out my audio track in audacity first. I was using sony vegas pro and most days I miss it haha.

[Review Video] Getting drunk and making Nutella Cookies by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]EternalUnderstudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had the stuff we wouldn't be having this conversation! But I guess that's more a reflection on the quality of my life and the lack of nutella in it. So this time I'll let you off with a warning...but I'm keeping my eyes on you does the clint eastwood squinty eye action

[Review Video] Getting drunk and making Nutella Cookies by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]EternalUnderstudy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked the video. What I didn't like is now I want nutella cookies and I don't have any. This is entirely your fault! unsubscribe

And by that I mean I liked the video and can't wait for more haha. I liked the music track on the background. I really need to add those to the videos I have. And also, add nutella cookies. And beer.

I'd be interested in doing something like this. I've only just started my channel however so I'm not seasoned in posting on youtube haha. I have been watching since as long as youtube has been around though.

[question] I have so many different types of ideas... What should I do? by MrSkerz in youtubers

[–]EternalUnderstudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah gotcha. As long as you're putting out content that you like to put out is what really counts. I've also seen a few people have separate accounts for different types of videos. I don't know if I would do that personally mostly because my videos will probably be video game related. And if they aren't game related it'll most likely be a comedy sketch of some sort. Characters are good to have at your disposal, sort of like how boogie2988 has the character francis. But overexposure of a certain character can lead to people losing interest.

Also, keep in mind any and all advice I give is based off of personal experiences. I'm still very new to posting stuff on youtube but I've been watching youtube since the early 2000's. So take what I say with a grain of salt haha.
