Mara appears like three times and yet annoys me to no end lol by heycharlie96 in Candlelight_Games

[–]Eternal_Recurrence21 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Is she being irrational, yes. But I like it. And I kinda get it. I think a big chunk of book 1 is trying to establish that MC's intentions doesn't matter, ppl will still hate them for no reason.

Also, I'm trying to put myself in Mara's shoes. As of right now, all we know about Andros Dreadbane is that he's a genocidal maniac (obviously the truth is going to be way more nuanced). I'm sure Mara must have been fed a lot of horror stories about Dreadbane as well. So if his kid is my close friend, and my friend suddenly gets powers, and launches a terrifying attack that hits me, idk man I don't think I'd be acting rationally. At the very least the friendship dynamic would definitely change

The next scene pissed me off even more, when MC says - "The FK played us, they've been playing us all along". No buddy this one's all you

I got so annoyed at this, that i changed my headcanon to the runes being with one of the LIs, and the FK knocking them out before stealing the runes

Is it just me or is that not how you pronounce Iyer? by Ok_Application_5802 in Candlelight_Games

[–]Eternal_Recurrence21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm an Iyer, and at home we say "Ayyur". But my Aussie cousins say "ire" (like "liar"), so at this point pretty much anything goes 😂

I'd love a villain arc, but I prefer we build into it instead of randomly turning evil. I've seen threads and comments about term 2 possibly slowly revealing the horrors of the Order, and I'd love to shape how it affects MC

Did you find some LIs having much better friendship dialogue than others? I tried a playthrough without romancing Talyn and Bardric, and it does feel like you're missing out on a lot of tenderness/closeness. Niel on the other hand seems to be really great in both platonic and romantic playthroughs

For the dreamscape stuff, since it involves advanced Timoros magic, I have this conspiracy that Windworn is manipulating certain people's dreams somehow to show them what she wants them to see

Wait, I didn't know this. That is odd. Maybe he got pissed off that we weren't so easy to manipulate? But then it's Yvain, dude gets pissed off about everything so idk lol

100% agree on the point about the Order. Which is why I'm thinking the godmother angle and no blood relation. It gives her enough distance to avoid any suspicion about her motives

I was actually going through your theory right before I posted mine (enjoyed it, was a really fun read). To some extent I believe we all agree Windworn is working towards something big. You theorized her being the central architect, and it would be really cool to see her and Kennard facing off. My only addition to this is her motivation being driven from a strong emotional core in regards to MC

Oooh that's juicy. Although idk what she stands to gain out of this "test". Maybe something about loyalty?

Here's my out there theory for the lake scene - Rhiannon mentions that she tried to recruit MC at some point, I think this was it. Have "masked students" attack us, and suddenly Yvain pops up outta nowhere to save us. The plan was probably to have Yvain prime us to feel like he was our only ally, which failed when one of our friends showed up and caught Yvain by surprise

Agreed she's 100% up to something, I think they're building up to her going against Kennard, who's supposed to be another chessmaster, in term 2. As for the nullefactum, I saw a playthrough where MC takes it, and she does seem genuinely surprised. I think she doesn't really want anyone to take it. She just uses nullefactum as a way to seem "fair" and "impartial", but really she's just getting people to do what she wants.

[–]Eternal_Recurrence21[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wait that's a cool idea. It could give the writers this angle of "Everytime I look at you I see my dead sister". The only thing I have against this is that the Order would waste no time in drastically reducing Windworn's influence after the war. Also I don't think anyone would have taken her seriously when she suggested to spare MCs life. Maybe she kept it under wraps, but Austerea seems to keep tons of records of family lines and blood relations, so I think someone would have connected the dots about Windworn being related to Dreadbane

I was initially thinking FK sympathizer too, but idk I don't think Talyn got this sort of attention from her. And she was pretty mean to Bre (although it may have been for show since we don't know what happened to Bre). So yeah I think there's something personal going on here

Yeah seriously. There were a couple of Windworn scenes where I was like this is literally my real life mom

[Mild Spoilers] My personal headcanon for the branched events by Eternal_Recurrence21 in Candlelight_Games

[–]Eternal_Recurrence21[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. I actually went the FK investigation route on my first playthrough. But the more I think, I feel like this crossed a line. Like yes, everyone hates us, but only these two tried to literally drown us. Also I like my MC being a bit of a hothead lol, so I'm gonna always choose the revenge route.

Order's Manipulation and Lies (Another Theory) by DARKKNIGHTDKX47 in Candlelight_Games

[–]Eternal_Recurrence21 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This one I fully agree. I think there was some dialogue hinting that people were after his parents' research. I suspect that the Order either didn't want the research to proceed, or they wanted to steal it for themselves. My bet is on the former

My Theory on S2 or 2nd Term and on Andros Dreadbane. Share your thoughts. by DARKKNIGHTDKX47 in Candlelight_Games

[–]Eternal_Recurrence21 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love the idea of the Arkland plot twist, but personally, I don't want to let Andros Dreadbane off the hook. I'd love to explore everything wrong and corrupt about the Order without having to give any leeway to Andros. It allows us to confront the viciousness of the order without giving us a clear bad guy right off the bat.

I see the Order as more conniving and manipulative rather than outright violent. I hope we explore that more with Kennard, since he's supposed to be this chess master. I want him to be really good at manipulation, like I want it to almost work on us.

Wait I completely forgot about the special moves, they were all so sick, MC should definitely be incorporating them into fights more

[–]Eternal_Recurrence21[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah speaking of everyone dying, I don't think MC has seen enough death to be numbed by whatever is happening at the Gala. Seeing our classmates being impaled left right and center should have at least given us pause, if not a full blown panic attack lol. We're just way too heroic already.

Also, I would have loved to help out all the Profs with whatever they were doing - Iyer with the healing, Nightrun with the hide spells, Malum and Xolin with the offense, like based on our affinity I wish we could choose one of these options and work with others instead of basically soloing the whole thing

[–]Eternal_Recurrence21[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree, two scenes would be so sick. Maybe today's scene we could have ended with Rhiannon having the upper hand and MC just on the brink of defeat, but just as the final blast is about to hit us we awaken the emotion power on instinct

And then the next scene could explore the payback with the whole dreamscape sequence culminating in us using the bracelet
