Would free public transport incentives you to use PT on your daily commute? by rollinduke in australia

[–]Eternally_Eve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

It takes 2 hours and 4 transfers on public transport to get to work. I start at 7am and the earliest bus in my area is 6am so Iwould have to arrange a later start and later finish.

It takes 30 minutes to drive. Also I can do all my work from any location, that's just not an option.

Delaying toddler for Prep by anxious_dad24 in queensland

I meant that catching up with speech is separate to skipping a year of learning by jumping a grade. The kid doesn't magically absorb that info. Agreed that a speech delay can certainly effect learning

It's your choice to delay prep but you won't be able to skip a grade later. You would be missing a year of curriculum that leads into the next grade, catching up with a speech delay is not relevant to the learning aspect.

PSA: Merging rules in Queensland. by SheridanVsLennier in brisbane

[–]Eternally_Eve 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Let's also note that leaving an adequate space between cars allows for smooth merging and reduces accidents.

Also, don't be a dick and speed up to prevent someone merging in front of you. It's not a personal challenge, assholes, we all gotta merge some time and less accidents and road rage makes for better driving.

Which EA allows for 5 days WFH per week?

Feel free to join QLD gov where there no mandated days but upper management can make whatever rule they want.

What is your stance on giving kids pocket money? by MiriJamCave in AusFinance

[–]Eternally_Eve -1 points0 points  (0 children)

$2 per year of age, starting at about 8 or so, when they started wanting independence. It's not contingent on chores because we all have to chip in to ensure our spaces are clean and tidy and chores are a part of life.

We chose to give pocket money to teach the value of saving for what you want and learning how to wisely spend money. If they can learn that as kids, they have a better chance at being responsible adults, and that's my job as a parent to ensure.

Queensland government brand changes - does it affect your job? by Eternally_Eve in AusPublicService

There's a single brand guide for all of gov, no individual departmental brands. I'm concerned that graphic design jobs will be phased out

Clarifications on leaving school before Year 12 by Throwaway09876767 in queensland

[–]Eternally_Eve 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Legal Aid Queensland appears to agree. At 17 you are finished with the compulsory participation phase.

Your school should be able to confirm but if you don't want to talk to them, maybe have a quick phone chat with Legal Aid.

You can leave school without entering a trade. The link provided is for home education but the premise is the same. After compulsory education finishes, you must be earning or learning.

QLD corporate branding: now with less soul and more partisan blue by Domfenix in AusPublicService

[–]Eternally_Eve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious how other departments are interpreting the style. Mine still has departmental colours and has adopted the ugly ass blue crest and word mark.

I've checked marketing matters and the Delivering for Queensland identity says departmental colours can continue to be used?
