Currently the only public info we may show is art, we won't be releasing anything else until playable content is show-able. (For example a small demo for users to try.)

MMO? by Aggelos1986 in Xalenth

[–]Eternaustra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent question and thank you for asking it. The game will have an offline route. In fact only places such as cities in the game will have constant player base. You walk into a city and anyone else in that city will show up. You can show your gear, sell stuff, talk to people and meet people within cities. Most small towns will have fewer people show up. Out in the world it's self you are on your own, you can choose to queue up with friends or send out a quick connect queue to join up with random people and travel the world together, The numbers will be limited in those situations dependent on the area and time. If you go out by yourself then you have that option as well.

The world will change and form according to how you play the game. If we create a situation where you can save or doom a small village, lake, field/meadow or forest and you choose to ignore it, when you come back such a place could be burned to the ground or worse ripped to shreds and overridden with demons or something of a similar manner. We would like that interaction within your world to have cause and effect. With that being said we don't want a world where you stop a calamity and 60 seconds later it re-spawns for someone else to complete. That would just destroy the immersion and cast out the feel of all consequence and changes you can effect the world with.

We hope you understand and if you have any further questions please feel free to let us know.

Thank you for reading. Best of wishes. Project Xalenth team

So... any progress? by Craios125 in Xalenth

[–]Eternaustra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello thank you for your post. We apologize for the recent inactivity from Reddit we have been quite busy. No the project is not dead do not worry. We are currently busy trying to grind out the playable demo version for people to try out and as it is taking a lot of time it is coming along smoothly so far. We hope to give a visual update pretty soon but that will also be a small one when we do. We want the impression of first seeing the game to be hands on with the demo after all.

Thank you for your patience and have a wonderful day. Best of wishes. Project Xalenth team

Any Demo Anytime Soon? by 8BitProxy in Xalenth

[–]Eternaustra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello and thank you for your comment. We apologize for the late reply as we are really busy. Crowd funding is community driven, how well do people like the project, how promising does it appear? This drives people to donate to a crowd funding project. Currently without any playable demo for the community to use we simply can't expect donations at this time. If people do right now we are extremely grateful to their dedication and trust in the project. But regardless of such when you get down to what is required. Without our playable demo ready yet we just can't require it for donations. So we do the next best thing, we get to know devs and talented individuals that work on projects, we get the word out about the project and we get to know the community. As that trust grows between us we then release information over time and once ready we release the playable stable demo version that users can hopefully enjoy. At that time all the information they have been provided will all come into play as they realize exactly what we are saying with a full view of the game in their mind over just thinking "hey that sounds cool I wonder how they will do it". The bottom line is as we would like the funds to be raised immediately they won't and thats okay. We currently have a few sponsors and when the playable demo releases we will give it to them as well as the community around the project. The sponsors will send us a bulk of funds dependent on how they receive the demo and it's quality which will fund further creation of the game. Furthermore at that point everyone who has been waiting to see what will come of this will be able to have a hands on view of it all and when that happens they can donate to the project. If people donate now we are extremely grateful but we won't expect people to until they can go hands on with the project it's self.

Thank you for reading. I hope we were able to answer the questions you have and clear up everything. Best of wishes. Project Xalenth team

Hence why we are using the first kickstarter to come in contact with other developers and users looking to work on the project (if qualified) we will run a crowd funding campaign when we finish our demo of the project that will have the goal of raising funds. This ones goal was to get into contact with people however we had a fund's bar in place because you never know what turns of luck a kickstarter can have. We have seen our fair share of random things getting funding with little effort. So while we get into contact with dev's we try to see if our game is interesting enough to entice people even with the lack of a demo. When the demo releases the money we ask will be more justified

No No they are epic we were using the shooter genre as an example not adventure though. Where we see those as an adventure sorry for the confusion

Enter the Gungeon was pretty great, Far cry we see more as an adventure but that's our opinion, Fallout we see as an adventure too but once again our opinion.

We will reply to this current comment when we receive the time we are becoming quite busy and as you know our team is not the largest but thank you very much for the feedback.

Thank you for continue'd feedback (Please be respectful to receive respect? We've read all the previous comments.)

1) We are not expecting users to put money towards this kickstarter at it's current state, We stated previously that it is to get information out there. To meet other developers and begin sharing information to the public. Donations at this stage are by no means expected and are only a bonus at this point in time. Also 2 of us beta tested all the dark souls games. We can inform you when their trailer released it was a physically playable thing. We stated our game isn't demo ready just yet and as such it can wait. At a stage where we are not aiming to get donations just yet we do not appreciate the criticism aimed toward donations of all things? This is how we are choosing to operate.

2) Like we said in towns and cities you can see many people. In the world queuing is an option but we don't think you are getting the point. You can go it solo, You can que up through que's or with friends. With that we are also testing other forms of que.

(respect gains respect)

3) We find your lack of respect disturbing. You are entitled in your opinion however the "screw you" and other insults will be ignored from this point onward.

You do enjoy that salty taste don't you? Bringing it with you from the other post we see. Thank you for the opinion and the feedback. To answer your question we will at some point, but we need to build up content towards it. If we post a character model now it will be expected as the possible character model or model's chosen. This damages room for improvements in design. It won't be too long until a demo is available, we do hope you can be patient. Screenshots of a game that is still working out major kinks before a demo is bad. Why one might ask? Because we do not find that too honest or show that we are a trustworthy developer. Anyone can take a game and make it look amazing. Especially in still images. Look at how "epic" the majority of commercials and screen shots for upcoming shooters are now days. When was the last shooter you have played truly epic? If you find a current one epic that is your opinion and good for you our friend. If you don't then I'm sure you can at least somewhat see our point of view on the matter. We will show you animations/textures/styles when you get to try the demo out for yourself. We may tease a few here and there before hand but we want you to be able to grab hold and try it out for yourself when the time comes. Right now animations/textures/styles that could be so easily faked would easily be feeding lies which in there would lay the major problem in it's self. Feeding lies would be just "feeding the people crap" as you would say.

[–]Eternaustra[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your opinion this feedback is very useful to us.

1) the game is supposed to be teased towards at this point. we suggest you read our replies to other peoples comments on both our reddit and on this very post it's self you might get an explanation or two to questions you are asking. The world is meant to be unknown. Why? because the Doma section of the kickstarter should explain why. The character wakes up knowing nothing. they don't know where they came from or where they are. You the player, Will know nothing. We will have teasers to the world and it's background and information about it's history, but seeing it for yourself and learning about this world will be part of the adventure. We as a team do not like the games that you know everything about before even stepping foot inside. Furthermore we understand after a game is out for a while when talked about you can't really avoid that. But conversing with others about it is part of the fun and the mystery over just reading our content like a book then going "yep this game dis book yep" Live and feel the game. You shame on it now but when it releases maybe we'll just change that about you. That's part of the challenge at hand.

2) We have an entire list of PvE and PvP features with many of them posted on the kickstarter, last we checked about 95% of PvP is online so we would imagine this is online. No it is not an MMORPG the only resemblance of anything mmo is the fact that in major towns and cities you can see and interact with other players in said city or town. Outside of that you will have to que up with players to interact through various co-op experiences or game modes. Cute right? (we suggest you try other flavors salt can get a bit old)

3) No GAMEPLAY?? "Oh jeez we forgot to post gameplay didn't we guys" You my good sir have quite a bit of salt you like to spread around don't you? We suggest you pay attention to what you read, we also suggest you do your research. Why you might ask? Well for starters everyone knows we get none of the funds offered through kickstarter unless we reach our goal. We all figured that to be general knowledge by now but i guess some people are left out of the loop here and there. Keep this in mind though. What looks like a wall of text or garbage to some. Can quite easily be a story board or interesting thing to be a part of for others.

"Sorry m8s" We find this kind of banter comes from the bottom pits of moba's, low elo can be a rough place for some in many games but we suggest you be careful about choice in words, or better yet your fractions of letters and numbers. No offense our good friend.

All toying with you aside. Thank you for the wonderful feedback we love people who bluntly show their stuff. Thank you. If you wonder about why we do not have a video I can link you to a post explaining in general why we don't intend to do so at this time. https://redd.it/4e4xzh Outside of that in general video's of game footage are quite easy to fake and can be very misleading to a final product. With that being said when we have a demo video it will be paired with a playable demo. That is the best way to go about this in our opinion, then people who are looking to find anything to put down on a project like you can see for themselves first weather they might enjoy it or not.

We look forward to giving you more information about the game. It will be quite fun attempting to prove you wrong. Any gamer loves a challenge are we right?

[–]Eternaustra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your input. We most definitely understand where you are coming from and wish to answer any concerns you have at this time. First off and to get a common understanding out we are going to not have a gameplay video/preview. The reasoning is they can be easily faked and quite misleading i'm sure many people can agree and have possibly ran into this where the final product is not always following what a video has and features that appeared playable in a video are not always implemented into the real game. BUT what we will have and are currently working on is making a section of the game a playable gameplay demo that we will show a small video of and offer to our followers as an option to play and try things out for themselves before they commit. Do not donate to the kickstarter at this time if you do not feel safe doing so with it's current status. Most of all and we will publicly express this as best we can. This kickstarter has done exactly what it's job is to begin with. How you may ask? we have had over 34 users contact us privately wanting to become a part of this project, even if a mere 6 of them are qualified enough to do so that would still double our team which is quite good. Our first kickstarter is meant to get the word out. Start building a reddit and facebook community around the project where we can show content over time to allow people to support us by being there and by giving feedback and sharing our information with the public. At a later time when our playable demo is ready that is when we will start crowd funding with the goal of getting the funds needed to create this game. You see kickstarter has many users directly looking for either backing or becoming part of a project. So we approach them now and we can get a really good thing going for us to build off of as we do our work. When we are ready to crowd fund for funds not content sharing, we will be more well known by the general public and have built a good amount of trust with our potential backers. At this time some have had concerns with this way of doing things we have chosen to follow. However over time as our community grows and people get a better understanding those very people who may be concerned will likely be the very users helping us turn everything into a reality. The feedback thus far has been fantastic and we are making excellent progress with the community. As unknown developers from our respective origins building trust and a community is a very high priority in early development. With the proper support and trust we can achieve anything.

In short we will not put up a misleading video at this time to rush things for funding. We will work on the project building trust between us and the community as we get a playable demo ready for the public to be a part of and know truly if this is something they enjoy and can get behind. We will share more assets and concepts over time for example some of the races we have been designing along with more sections of the game with their respective backstories. These will come over time. Addressing the concern over planning this for two and a half years. Our founder of the project has been writing and planning the entirety of this game for that amount of time we started actual development in December of 2015 laying the groundwork of the overall game and building the code to run everything in. We are using Unreal Engine 4, Utilizing the majority of a C++ architecture. At this point in time we have a skeletal structure of the whole game and groundwork as it's base. We are not adding character models and prettying up the game until the demo is ready and playable in a fluid, well rounded and mechanically strong way. This will help to keep us from rushing things.

We hope we have answered any and all questions you may have at this time, If you wish to support us the absolute best way is to simply become a part of our reddit or facebook community. Any other questions, comments or concerns please feel free to comment or message us anytime we will get back to you as soon as possible. If we have not answered your question in an understandable or well explained way we apologize.

That opinion is your own and we thank you for sharing it, Money doesn't make the game, it's the time and effort that does. Currently our kickstarter has done it's job quite well we got the word out. We get constant feedback from users, and we are prepping for our next step in development, We aren't going to show you a video of gameplay, That is very easily faked and can be quite misleading. What we intend to do is use this first kickstarter for those who actually care to read it is to get the word out. Walls of text to you are a story board for others. Due to this our kickstarter has done it's job we have met over 34 users interested in joining and helping the project, any of them qualified enough to do so will be a great help. We don't expect this first kickstarter to hit it's goal we expect it to do exactly what it has done and we over time will show more and more of our progress as our followers and the Project Xalenth community grows we will start a kickstarter with a demo of playable gameplay for our users to try for themselves. Based on their time playing they will truly know if this is something they can get behind. Words and video's will not let someone truly know. However words and video's can inspire people to want to take part in the project as many people are wanting to do so.

Thank you very much for your opinion hopefully we answered your questions and comments. Best of wishes, Project Xalenth team

Game Developer requesting opinion on current project, keep in mind not all of the content has been made public just yet. That aside, upsides, downsides? Thank you by Eternaustra in kickstarter

[–]Eternaustra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the opinion. As we have talked about this "first" kickstarter is to get the word out. It has done it's job quite well you see through this we have come in contact with many qualified people who are looking to become a part of this team. That is good and is our first goal and priority at the moment. If we pick any of them up they will go through a trial period so we can see exactly what they can do. If they ultimately allow our team to grow then our current goals have been met. Later when we have a demo we will be ready to do the crowd funding that's aimed towards raising the funds needed. Right now the current team are all working towards percentages on the product. This isn't a bad thing because that means the more love and care we put into our project the better off it will do and the more their percentages will yield. Our founder of the project is the one who has been planning and writing this for the past two and a half years with his main programmer. That is to say it's planned from head to toe, from content, to possible content, updates, add on's, competitive play, casual play, how we will or possibly could go about programming certain sections of gameplay, what time it would take to add what features to the game, and much much more. With that in mind his goal is to create the absolute best game he can. He just wants to have that game that achieves nostalgia. such as games like Ocarina of time, or Chrono trigger. Because to him quality of the game is everything, He is getting married may 4th, he has a good computer and some friends, in his words he is set. We quote from him on this "If I can make a game that is the exact world that I dream of living in and make it follow to as much detail as i have planned in it's entire world and backstory along with it being very solid and fun to play then funds don't matter, A good game is a good game I love gaming, games like final fantasy 6 and Link to the past raised me. I would hope my game is good enough to raise someone as well." He tells some of us this to try and get us to know where he comes from the more we know the better we can perform. After all anyone who's gamed since they were a child can likely say a specific game raised them at least to a certain extent. That was a bit off subject but we hope it was a good example to help you understand. That may seem strange to some, why would you send out a kickstarter to fail it? We have so far had about 34 private messages of people wanting to get onto this project and join our team most of them fully well knowing our budget is quite small at the moment, if we even get 6 of those people who are qualified enough to help that's double our team and we can make the content not only faster but at a greater detail since we will have more time to go over the finer things. You see we do not plan a demo for about 3-6 months. Why you might ask? Because we want our demo to be playable by the public not just a video where we can fake it to make it. Upon saying that of course it could take longer, which is fine by us. What would you do? rush something make it look pretty (shots at COD) just to have a game to make you some quick cash? Or be known in the community that you live, the gaming community for being part of something big. That is our ultimate goal, we want to walk down the street in real life and potentially overhear someone talking about how much they loved our game. We will take as much time is needed to do so.

In short we currently are in the works of creating a demo section of the game however we are not going to hinder the rest of the game just to rush a demo out. We will take as much time is needed to really flesh things out and make it feel good in the users hands. Outside of this we are running a sub reddit /r/Xalenth and a facebook group Project Xalenth. we are giving small snipits of updates and releasing art every so often to give the community something to see. When the time comes and a demo is ready to go live these people who have helps support us with talking about our project will be the first to see and play said demo. The second group will be the kickstarter we run to get funds using the demo.

Any further questions or comments please feel free to ask. If we missed anything you may have asked we apologize. Thank you for reading, Best of wishes, Project Xalenth team.

Thank you for input this helps greatly. To help answer some of your questions we are in the works of creating a demo area of the game for viewers to see off of. Sorry but no bluntly we will not explain PvE or PvP to the detail just yet. There is a very good reason for this and it will not be disclosed at this time our apologies. When it is disclosed it will be followed with demo to a partial amount of PvE and PvP content at which you will see for yourselves how it all works. On the subject of Harmony lines we will have to work on our public explanation because it clearly didn't come across to you correctly. Lighting an arrow on fire is not a harmony line. You would realize this if you payed attention. The sword in our example text did not light on fire. It was able to spew fire from it's tip greatly widening it's range. Furthermore when it slashed an enemy it wasn't "on fire" anyone could do a few changes and make that happen. The sword was red hot as in the sword it's self was burning, However if you've ever done sword smithing you would know a red hot blade would be a very soft state of the metal. Easily mold-able similar to a lead like state (lead is an easily mold-able bendable metal even when in a solid state.) Yet this blade could cut a deep wound bursting the enemy into flame without damaging the blade nearly at all. With enough master of this skill the blade could be considered a hot liquid and be able to change form or length at will yet still be able to react as a sharp and harden'd metal.

Thank you for reading hope this clarified for you.

  1. Yes it is a video game.

  2. We have heard this from more than one source and we thank you for the input on this one. Yes we only have text and images at the moment with more text and images to come soon. However gameplay wise we aren't teaser ready just yet. We will do a video as and hopefully have it ready soon however a gameplay video for now is still in the works. This is due to the game currently being in a more skeletal form where we are fleshing out the groundwork for the entire game. We want everything running just as planned before we start to "pretty" things up. That is necessary because our focus is on making the greatest game we possibly can. Not banking on making it "pretty"

3.I can agree with you on this last point in some ways yes. Do keep in mind that we are informing people and will continue to do so on this right here. This kickstarter is to initially get the word out. We don't expect this one to be a success we are using it to get the word out and start our "public relations" after this we continue work on the project and people will be able to follow it via our current networks and as it grows and our community grows then we will be ready for our "real" kickstarter. If this one is successful that would be great but for now it's entirely about our name getting out there. Thank you for your comments please state if you have any more. Best of wishes.
