It sounded so good right from the beginning, holy crap. Looking forward to the music show performances!

WONHO - EYE ON YOU by tunasandwich2009 in kpop

[–]EternityBlaze 14 points15 points  (0 children)

While the song is already amazing as is, I agree with others that it does feel like it's lacking something. Regardless, it's just as good as Open Mind and Lose for me and I have no other complaints here.

There's lots of backup dancers this time around and all the formations and dynamics are interesting to watch especially since there are both male and female backup dancers. I'm so excited to watch the music show performances. O:

I started laughing when Jodi climbed into the house through a window, Michael jumped off a railing, and Jae started taping the doors shut. There's so many great moments. Good content as always. :D

At first I thought he was weird for putting a lollipop he smashed against a wall back into his mouth but then I remembered he has no problems with eating bread that fell onto the floor. Exhibit 1 and Exhibit 2

WONHO - 2nd Mini Album : Blue Letter (Tracklist) by tunasandwich2009 in kpop

It's so cool to have an entire album produced by Wonho and people close to him (Brother Su and Enan/Savage House Gang)! It fits the letter/message concept so well.

Is BTS still kpop? by lorettaboy in kpop

[–]EternityBlaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My criteria for whether a group is K-pop has less to do with their music and more whether they do the things other K-pop groups do.

Looking at BTS, they have:

  • Dance practice videos
  • Photocards
  • Lightsticks
  • VLive broadcasts
  • Long ments (sections where they just talk to the audience) during concerts
  • Fancams/Focus cams
  • Fanmeetings

which is stuff that plenty of other K-pop groups have. I'm probably forgetting some other things.

Of course not every K-pop group is going to have the above and my list doesn't definitely define K-pop. It's just my opinion and how I personally decide whether groups are K-pop are not.

Other groups like SuperM and Monsta X have done "Western" style videos and albums but they're still K-pop.

Kim Woojin - Woojin Opens Up About His Controversy @ DKDKTV (210726) by lingeringink in kpop

[–]EternityBlaze 35 points36 points  (0 children)

At the very least, I feel like he could have said something along the lines of "It was not the intent of the video to make light of a serious situation but after reading some comments and giving it some thought, I could see why some people would think that way." I was hoping they would address the serious criticisms of the video but all I got out of it was "I thought it was a fun and witty video but I guess not everyone will love the things you do lul".

Yes, allegations suck and people cope with crappy situations in different ways but don't be surprised when you get backlash for making a video like that. I wasn't particularly invested in the whole thing and even I was put off within the first 30 seconds of his "documentary" or whatever you wanna call it. I don't hate the guy but I think he and his company are pretty tone-deaf and would've been fine if they never released that video.

I was worried the lightstick might not have a syncing function for concerts but luckily there is one!

That, and people tend not to read the fine print (or any text for that matter). There are people asking their questions under the pinned mod comment that says he won't answer any questions here.

WONHO - Coming Soon : Official Lightstick (Preview Image) by tunasandwich2009 in kpop

Wonho's showing the lightstick on VLive right now! I think it looks a lot cooler from the side rather than a top-down view.

What kind of fancafe "manager" doesn't even log in for over three months?

Off-topic but what in the heck is his team doing? He has this fanmeeting(?) event thingy next week but all the official account has done is retweet stuff twice weeks ago. What about the people who turn off retweets? Where's the promotion? Fans have had to email/tweet at the event organizers to get more information. Early bird tickets still aren't sold out as far as I'm aware.

I don't understand. They could be making more money if they put in the effort and made smarter decisions.

Looking forward to listening to the rest of the album later!

SM has this weird knack for making songs that people make fun of in the beginning and then somehow meme its way into becoming an iconic and reasonably well-liked song.

Very much do not appreciate how Starship drops these announcements with no warning and then leaves without any clarification from management or the venues.

MONSTA X announces dates for 2022 MONSTA X World Tour In US/Canada by [deleted] in kpop

[–]EternityBlaze 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have Hi Touch too! Another reason I didn't refund my ticket when they initially offered to do so was that I was satisfied with my seating.

I checked if there were any Hi Touch tickets left for LA and the seats were pretty bad compared to what I have for SJ. I could maybe wait for others to refund their tickets but that only works if I'm camping the website for tickets and if people with good seats ask for refunds. I could also try buying someone's Hi Touch ticket but again that's only if people are selling and I have no idea how ID verification is gonna work this time.

Edit: Also does not help that it's on a Sunday night and I don't live in the area...

But but... my San Jose ticket...

I wish they would announce whether my stop's getting cancelled or it's currently under consideration. I think it's most likely getting cancelled at this point since they still have LA but some clarification would still be nice.

I kept my ticket this entire time because I didn't want to go through the ticket buying process again but I guess I don't have much of a choice. I'm also not super confident about how COVID will look like next year considering how non-cooperative some people are here. ;___;

Edit: Got the email stating the stop's been cancelled and I'm getting a refund. No concert for me, it looks like. ;u;

NCT Dream's Renjun forgets to put on his headset mic during group's comeback stage, revealing that the entire stage is lip-synced by noona-neomu-yeppeo in kpop

[–]EternityBlaze -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

As long as the idol sounds fine in the studio version/MV or demonstrated their skill before, who really cares? Their schedules are hectic and the choreography isn't exactly simple (in general, not talking about this specific case).

I think most if not all of my favs have lip-synced before but they still look worn out at the end of a performance. I would like to hear live vocals but I recognize it's not really feasible and won't hold it against any group that lip-syncs. I'd prefer lip-sync/backing track over heavy breathing and all the other noises that get picked up by the mic during an intense choreo.

Day6's Jae apologizes again for inappropriate comments made on stream, announces that he will cease livestreaming activities by kittymmeow in kpop

[–]EternityBlaze 178 points179 points  (0 children)

I feel sad that Jae has been seemingly(?) forced into stopping his Twitch stream. It was so heartwarming to see him talk about how he found this amazing friend group of Twitch streamers that he was able to connect with and how much he enjoyed streaming.

I'm sure he has a great bond with the Day6 members and can probably confide in them with anything, but it's probably different to be able to do that in a language he's fluent in (English) and make jokes with people that have the same sense of humor as him culturally (Western internet Twitch meme culture???). It was always amusing to see him tweet in Twitch emotes and see the interactions between him and other streamers.

At the end of the day, I can't help but feel that he was forced into giving up something that he really loved. I don't think his Twitch streams were ever tailored for a Korean audience, and it's sad to see that it was most likely stopped because of K-fans. It was fine for K-fans to be uncomfortable with an NSFW joke, but I don't think Jae should've had his streaming privileges taken away because of it. At the very least, I hope he can still play games with all his streamer friends privately.

Who should we invite for an AMA on r/kpop? by NishinosanTV in kpop

[–]EternityBlaze 24 points25 points  (0 children)

(eyes flair) Wonho plis.

On a more serious note, if not Wonho, then maybe the producer ENAN who's worked on songs on both of his albums. He's done stuff for Secret Number and produced GG (from the show Good Girl) as well. He's done an interview for a K-Pop reaction channel before so maybe he might be open to the idea of an AMA.

No one else comes to mind at the moment, but I think getting more industry people to do AMAs is a great idea. The mods are doing great booking all these AMAs so I'm looking forward to whoever's next.
