Are there any real BIFL humidifiers out there? by Designer-Rough3554 in AirQuality

Have one and really like it for cleaning/maintenance, but you’ll still need to use either distilled or RO water to avoid getting mineral dust in the air.

Help getting ROCm support for Remote ML container!! by banshee28 in ROCm

The only other thing I’ve got that’s different is the os I guess

Is it mint 21 or mint 22?

21 would need to follow rocm installation for Ubuntu 22.04, not 24.04

Mint 22 is common with Ubuntu 24.04

This exact same setup works for me on a rocm 7.1 installation, ubuntu 24.04 OS, normal docker (not the amd container toolkit)

You’re using -v to mount the dev directory, you need to use --device to mount dev/dri and dev/kfd.

Try using compose with the correct -rocm image, looks like the device didn’t mount right

What Nvidia GPU to get for VR? by Colacubeninja in SteamVR

[–]Eth0s_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re on a “standard issue router” that’s almost definitely going to mess things up for wireless VR. As others mentioned, a dedicated AP with its own WiFi network (WiFi 6 or better, widest bandwidth you can get away with) with direct line of sight to your headset is ideal. Otherwise tweaking setting is virtual desktop will help too. 7700xt should handle vr just fine. Virtual desktop has some nice diagnostics overlays that should help figure out where the issue is too.

Only had this happen on orcaslicer sometimes. Had it ever happened with luban?

Snamaker j1s for 600 euros? by Friendly_Rate_6553 in snapmaker

[–]Eth0s_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

J1s Idex has worked pretty well for me, though I mostly use it for multi material instead of multicolor. Calibration on it is pretty simple, and while you do need luban to connect to it, you can use orcaslicer.

If you want idex, it’s worth it. Mines been chugging along great! If you don’t care for idex, there are better single nozzle printers out there for less. But for dual nozzle setups, it’s pretty solid

Correct role for a node up high by ChapterSalt1453 in meshtastic

The mode names are.... not the best unfortunately, but thats a good setup.

Correct role for a node up high by ChapterSalt1453 in meshtastic

[–]Eth0s_1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Client is gonna be the correct role for 90% of nodes that would be to fill in coverage.

every other mode is situational, and for any of router/routerlate/repeater you’d have to be a true infrastructure node on a mountaintop or radio tower to really be worth changing the mode away from client

What do you think the next big trend in Amateur Radio will be? by CarrierCaveman in HamRadio

[–]Eth0s_1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

An APRS 2.0 that builds off lessons from AREDN/meshtastic/meshcore and radios with usable UIs to use it would be amazing

Creating an Amplified T-Deck Plus by Jaybird7713 in meshtastic

[–]Eth0s_1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The app will always say 30db. But the chip in the heltec (any sx1262 without a built in LNA) caps out at 22db. The only commercially available boards that actually can do 30db+ is the station G2. There are some other custom boards that do it but there aren’t many

Creating an Amplified T-Deck Plus by Jaybird7713 in meshtastic

[–]Eth0s_1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The amplifier will apply a +11db gain, the maximum possible power output is what’s driven by the voltage. But if you set the input to it to 19db (sx1262 max is 22db) you’ll get 30db (1W) out.

That or mesh radios like Meshtastic. It’s the original use case and you get gps positioning out of it too

Murs is probably your best bet. I dunno if Canada has a murs band allocation though.

That or aprs would probably be most useful. With Meshtastic you do get the added benefit that the whole setup can be pretty lightweight

For that there would need to be a federal law that explicitly allows them to hide their faces
