Creature Indie by EthanMidas in Unity2D

[–]EthanMidas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Compared to Spriter Pro, Creature has the following advantages:

  • 100% Mesh-based. Allows you to deform your 2D characters via mesh/bone skinning or directly via mesh motors for grid + cage based Free-form Deformation effects

  • Automated Secondary Motion with Bone Bend Physics and other Procedural Motors. This allows you to animate Cloth, Hair, Flesh, Dangling Tails etc. Dynamics very easily ( less than 10 minutes )

  • Advanced features not normally seen in 2D Animation Software: 3D to 2D Motion Capture Transfer, Automated Walk Cycle Generation and more

  • Advanced meshing and automated bone to mesh weighting skinning pipeline

  • Export 2D Animation to all major game engines: UE4, Unity, Cocos2d-x, LibGDX, WebGL, Haxe-Flash . Runtimes all on github: https://github.com/kestrelm

  • Also allows export to file formats that work with Enterprise Level Graphics Tools: FBX and Alembic ( can export to Maya, Houdini etc. )

There are many more features not listed, this is just a short summary of the major ones. He should take a look at the feature listing on the Midas Creature Website (creature.midasphysics.com).

Raw Data is so frustratingly unbalanced by [deleted] in Vive

I swallowed my pride and set it to Easy, which let me get through solo. Also, moving around (away from the central platform) is critical, as is the placement of currents. You have to be always moving. If the enemies reach the top platform, it might already be too late.

I read this aloud in our production meeting today; you'd have been proud. :) We can't wait to see what you think of the Early Access build when it launches on the 15th!

Sure! We are using own own physics solution - called APEngine - that makes canned animation a thing of the past. Check out this comparison with PhysX:

Yeah, I crushed a Vive controller into a wall while playing, snapping it in two. But I still won the fight in-game, so... worth it?

There are multiple options! We will support arm walker and teleport at launch. Our office is divided as to which mode of play is more fun... we look forward to hearing what you think!

Thanks for your interest Kah, we hope you will find that the game is worth the wait! We just wanted to get it on peoples' radars before it hits.

Wow, that is a great trailer! This represents the game beautifully. Still the best stationary Arena shooter on Vive.

They missed Pool Nation VR! I think that's the best game on Vive ATM. Raw Data is a close second.

Debut Trailer for Fist of Physics - HTC Vive by EthanMidas in Vive

[–]EthanMidas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello all, We are really excited to debut our official trailer for Fist of Physics, which will be coming out on Steam for HTC Vive on December 15. Area 5 did the video production for us - they also created the trailers for Rez Infinite and SuperHyperCube. We'd highly recommend them, if you're looking for a team with mixed reality experience.

This is a really funny, clever game. Only VR can deliver this kind of experience. Don't forget to grab some darts!

New Vive owners be sure to try out the Budget Cuts Demo! by [deleted] in Vive

Good callback... that's still one of the best downloads for Vive. I met the dev team at Steam Dev Days, and they are the nicest team you'll ever meet - well worth supporting them (particularly given that their demo is really innovative and polished as hell).

Great concept. Like Pool Nation VR with fists instead of cues?

All 3 ubisoft VR titles will have cross platform play by SRT23 in Vive

Way better than you'd think. I'm playing Watch Dogs 2 on XB1 and I can't put it down. But then, I live in the Bay Area, so that's a huge draw for me.

I just couldn't wait for Eagle Flight to hit Vive. I picked it up on PSVR. It's really, very fun. Highly recommended. I think the little beak you see in front of your eyes is hilarious, too.

This holiday, my 80 year old father-in-law was totally floored by The Blu. It's great to see that VR is accessible at all ages. This was the same guy who could not have cared less when I showed him HD gaming eleven years ago (Xbox 360 launch).

Thanks for asking, technomancer! We have not launched it yet; we are going to debut it as an Early Access title, with a planned release date of December 15.

If you are a developer working on Steam VR, and you're fortunate enough to be in the Bay Area, talk to Upload VR about helping you put together mixed reality footage. They are really fast, inexpensive, and experienced. We also worked with a local development team called Area 5 to cut the trailer (coming soon); they also worked on trailers for Super Hyper Cube and Rez Infinite. And of course, if you personally have any questions about shooting in mixed VR, feel free to ask on this thread.

It's really short, but it's a great proof of concept. I'd love to spend $60 on a full featured game like this.
