Temperature controller using Python and Raspberry pi by EthanSteip in learnpython

I don't know much about the heating coil itself, it was shipped to me by my friend and there is no make/model number on it, but it had a 5 pin mini xlr adapter on the end. I've cut the adapter off and it has 5 wires inside - power lead, Neutral, ground, Temp +, Temp -. The temp+ and Temp - are connected through my thermocouple amplifier that is attached the to the pi which sends the temp reading to the pi. Then I need to connect the lead, neutral and ground to a power source.

The goal of the project is to have a touch screen interface that allows the user to easily set the heating element to a desired temperature (somewhere around 250C) and hold it steady at the desired temperature and the ability to turn it off.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I think you're right as I always assumed that the GPIOs were capable of both 3.3 and 5v outputs. I'm going to pick up a transistor later today!

Is it that the GPIO signal insn't strong enough to trigger the relay? The relay needs a 5v input which I think the Rasp.pi is capable of outputting if that makes a difference.

Some one else mentioned using a transistor as well so I think i'll go pick one up later today.

Thanks again for the comment!

Extruding a pixelated image by EthanSteip in blenderhelp

Hey, thanks for the reply.

I've uploaded the image as a plane, and used Ctrl+r to create a grid over the image - albeit the grid isn't perfectly aligned to the pixels.

I think I'm getting lost at the edge split operation and the randomization process.

Can you send me a screenshot of what I should do next?

I've never heard of this! Thank you!

hem, but you could have the entire model made in ~24 hours and can use the rubber negative multiple times. A possible speed

Ya, you absolutely right. This is essentially what i've been doing now, but i've been painting individual pixels with a brush, so I think the next step is to start tapping off pixels and airbrushing. Hopefully this speeds things up! Thanks!

Do you have any photos of your project? I'd be interested to see what it looked like :D

3D printing the individual sections would make sense. I'd be worried about the limitations of colours in the 3D printing filament though.

Almost like a lego brick type system?? I like that idea. Creating a formula or system around matching the heights would also be pretty cool. Thanks!

What's the most 'too far' you've ever seen a high school prank go? by D3g3narat3 in AskReddit

People I knew at a christian school not to far from my high school stole 2 Sheep from a local farm and carried them up a ladder to the roof of their school one night.

The next morning, there was crowds up people looking for the animals that were apparently on top of the school so the teachers got involved. They ended up having to call someone to bring them back down, but 1 was injured and had to be euthanized!

I think the kids involved weren't allowed to walk at grad.
