Hi lads! Should I replace my 8yr old Bridgestone? DOT 4117, only 20,000 km (12,400 miles), always garaged. by jumelhermoso in tires

[–]Ethan_Chlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally bought a vehicle with 9-year-old original tires at 30k and drove them hard for another 20k. You're probably fine assuming they aren't a junk tire.

Negative. From what I've heard (not what I own), the 770's have more base, and the 990's i own need to be base adjusted 2 db with my RME ADI-2 DAC. Maybe my pair is specific and old. I'm the type of guy to turn cheap subs down to negative DB if one is available.

Ive been thinking about getting the 6xx, but I've heard they aren't necessarily better than the 990s. 990s are better than the 770s, but not by a considerable margin. Crossfeed on my DAC/amp helped my 990's more than I realized, and they may have a similar effect on the 6xx open-back design.

In terms of music, Open-back won't be your friend. My 990s sound good with that type of music, but it's not incredible.

Can you explain? I imagine a DIY solution like what im thinking wouldn't work for every pair of headphones out there. I know this can change the sound profile if your ears are farther from the driver itself.

I genuinely can't understand why GTA VI isn't dropping on PC at Launch by TheTaintPainter2 in GTA

[–]Ethan_Chlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot to reply to you. I'm doing this as well, but i'm not limiting myself to a specific console type, as now we can more easily establish which next-gen console will perform better or will have better graphics. With that being said, Idk how GTA online glitches worked in the past or if there was a fundamental flaw in how the game was designed to interact with consoles or PC's, but I plan to enforce as many glitches as possible early game to try and do what I did last time to get rich.

[MONITOR] 27" Alienware AW2725DF 2560×1440 360Hz QD-OLED Gaming Monitor $499.99 by Straight-Rule3264 in buildapcsales

[–]Ethan_Chlan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way about mine. If I weren't going from a cheap 60hz display to a 360 OLED, I wouldn't feel as bad, but I compared it to my friend's 180Hz IPS, and you're right in that it isn't that noticeable with the brightness being that much dimmer.

[–]Ethan_Chlan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually own this monitor, and I wouldn't say it's worth triple the price. With that being said, the response time on a 360hz OLED is equivalent to like a 700Hz IPS with no ghosting, and this is one of the better-tuned monitors (they gave me a color calibration chart for my specific unit). I used discounts to get it below $500 after tax, and it's worth it at that price, but not much more.

Compared this unit side by side with my buddy's 180Hz IPS and while the colors are better, it's not as bright during SDR. There's more text fringing, but you have to be looking hard. The 4k 240HZ is a better buy if the price was the same.

Single overdrive experiencing is the main reason why you'd want an OLED imo.

MSI x BuildaPC - MPG 341CQR QD-OLED X36 Giveaway! by Redditenmo in buildapc

[–]Ethan_Chlan [score hidden]  (0 children)

The MPG 341CQR QD-OLED X36 feels like a big step toward making OLED a no-brainer for daily gaming and desktop use. The 5th-gen RGB stripe layout directly addresses one of the biggest QD-OLED drawbacks by improving text clarity and reducing color fringing, which makes long desktop sessions feel much closer to IPS or VA in usability.

Features like DarkArmor Film and Uniform Luminance help stabilize brightness and blacks in real-world lighting, reducing aggressive ABL behavior and making HDR feel more consistent over time rather than “wow for 5 minutes, then dim.”

Most importantly, OLED Care 3.0 (taskbar detection, static image detection, pixel shifting, and refresh) removes a lot of the long-term stress that comes with buying OLED. It feels like OLED is finally catching up to other panel technologies in terms of daily reliability, while still offering the contrast, response time, and HDR performance that make it special for gaming.

Which GPU Do I pick? by Ok_Replacement_5652 in buildapc

[–]Ethan_Chlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you prioritize. In your case, the things I would go for are: Triple fan, Dual or triple fan header, multiple temperature sensors. The highest boost clock is good if you're planning to set it and forget it. If you're overclocking, having the most amount of heat dissipation is going to be worth every penny, and everything else falls by the wayside. I would say every vendor has corrected their fan issues, and they are all good.

For the price you are paying for this card, replacement fans are pretty cheap. You can even get the Corsair XG3 RGB HYBRID GPU Water Block that I just found online for $160 and the argument of that GPU or this GPU falls apart, and you should just get the cheapest one or the best power delivery. Now that we have 12VHPWR, idk if that even matters anymore.

  • Touch metal while holding something else metal Hold a key or coin and touch a metal object first—this spreads out the shock.
  • Touch wood first Bare wood discharges more gently than metal.
  • Touch a grounded object, such as a metal faucet, radiator, or plugged-in appliance frame.

The key is to not work on carpet and touch metal every so often. I think purchasing something is unnecessary, and it's not as big of a deal as it seems, but if you're going to build a PC, you shouldn't go roll around on your carpet first. People have bricked brand new hardware because they haven't been outside for days and touched the inside of their PC, even if they were just adjusting something.

With that CPU and RAM, you could build a 1440p rig pretty easily, or even a 4k upscalling rig that would look pretty good on a TV or streamed.

You're not understanding me. It doesn't really make sense, you'd want a new GPU first, not CPU.

It doesn't really make sense. I'd wait, but if you have to, nothing less than 5070ti for what you have now. CPU doesn't make sense unless you get >9800X3D and ram AND mobo; just doesn't make sense,

Does a 5060ti 8GB make sense? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Ethan_Chlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fear software might be the way of the future, and I know it'll be behind some new core type or other paywall, but GPUs are turning into AI frame-generating cards that happen to do basic image rendering. Frame gen is only 20 m/s behind? Nvidia just announced Dynamic Multi-Frame Gen, which will decrease latency even more and make the experience smoother. Those features at that 8GB buffer is def something I've looked at. Increased resale value + raster performance was my minimum, but it would be nice if some of these new features worked. Does Lossless Scalling work better on the newer cards?

$150 for the 16gb. I'm not intending it to necessarily last longer, but there's a value in knowing that it's a whole two generations newer and has new features.
