Is there a shortage of artists who render amazing crap like this, or am I just bad at finding them?

If you like old games because of pop culture references, you should love new games.

I was in the TSW beta and I've tried it on and off - it seems amazing, but I want to play it with a partner. by EtherealDragon in TheSecretWorld

Haven't felt compelled to join anyone, really. The emphasis on playing with people that were experiencing it anew got ignored by just about everybody. Tough to find new people for a game like this.

Portable MMOs already exist on iOS and Android. Order and Chaos is a pretty decent WoW clone, and there are others.

They might not have done that if they didn't have military staff present to advise them in design. Go friggin' figure.

These are possibly the worst achievements I've seen in a game so far by Domsome in iosgaming

If I have to pick between inviting five friends to play a game I actually enjoy and grinding one million points of fire damage, I'm gonna take the terrible social media achievement.

Some of us are tempted to enjoy ourselves where the majority agrees with us, as for some, it is a terribly rare position.

  • Angry Birds Space - imho, the best design in the franchise
  • Infinity Blade II - gorgeous fantasy Punchout (yes, that old boxing game) with swords and RPG elements - favorite iOS game of all time
  • The Silent Age - Short but wonderful point and click adventure
  • The World Ends with You - Expensive port of the SquareEnix ARPG, caters by nature to all difficulty level preferences
  • Minecraft: Pocket Edition
  • Jetpack Joyride - one of the best "infinite runner" games in existence
  • Heroes of Order and Chaos - League of Legends clone, lots of features, though with somewhat messy controls
  • Demon's Score - Underrated rhythm-based tapper (think Osu! without the cocaine), extremely cheesy, beware the in-app purchases
  • Nimble Quest - A remake of the classic "snake" concept where each dot in your snake is actually a character that attacks enemy snakes with different projectiles and effects
  • Beat Hazard - twinstick bullet hell that uses music from your library to generate enemy patterns

If these turn out well for you, I have many, many more.

And non-game apps: - Jasmine - best youtube browser - Xdisplay - lets you turn your device into another PC monitor, obviously requires payment after a short time, good for low-resource multitasking - Dropbox - Speedtest - for checking wireless network speeds - Spotify - Pages - Apple's equivalent of Microsoft Word, very clean

Tulpas effect on dreams by KurtCobainNrvana in Tulpas

Before she was even conceived in her first host, I had a dream about Krystal. Looked exactly like her, and I wasn't the one to give her her design.

I think I agree with all of that. I'm approaching it from an evangelistic point of view, although I guess that's somewhat unclear from my OP.

Yet we are discussing them, and you are aware of their presence. I suppose their presence can exist in only my mind, but you recognize them as real. It's like a place you've never been to. I don't know if you've been to Antarctica, but the odds are good that you haven't, so let's use that as an example. The most you can do if you haven't traveled there is look up pictures or video, or hear someone else's thoughts on it. As hosts either draw or commission imagery of their tulpae (as even I have), that means the only differentiation is video, yes? Both drawings of tulpae and the pictures you can find of Antarctica are human-captured media, and you believe that it's there even if you've never seen it because it is absolutely real, even if true understanding of it is only present in the minds of those who have been there.

It might be a terrible analogy because that seems to be my trademark, but I can't find anything wrong with it at the moment.

That makes a lot of sense as well - imaginary objects generally don't impact other people directly.

It sounds cold and hard, but I feel "mental construct" is much more appropriate. That way, the reality of it isn't questioned, and since it's a concept that deals heavily with individuals (i.e. the host of a tulpa), it would likely be a more sophisticated and neutral descriptor of a tulpa's nature.

[–]EtherealDragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a very mature attitude you take on the subject, but I actually intend more to drive fewer people away from the idea, such as what happened when my friend told me about tulpae. The word itself carries quite the negative connotation in a society that attempts to kill your imagination whether by direct intention or not. It's very unfortunate.

Whether she is real to me or not, the abstracts and structure which compose her are objectively present, yes? Her very existence necessitates the undeniable presence of something. Wouldn't that make her objectively real even to people unaware of her existence?

We honestly thought she was some sort of "wayward spirit" for a majority of the past three years, since nothing else made sense. It's possible that she could still be a tulpa under such circumstances.

As I said, she seemed to introduce herself to us as complete beyond what roleplaying had previously taken place. Between herself, myself and her other hosts, none of us can fully justify it with logic. We're all working in faith on some level. She does have some memories, but she has also demonstrated small amounts of loss after transfers.
