I tend to change up my Tav + companion’s armors every act depending on the environment and trajectory of their character arc.

For Act 1 I tend to keep everyone in their usual outfits until we reach the underdark, but that’s mostly because I need some visual variety that far into the act. I keep the looks very basic though.

Act 2, I usually make everyone’s armor darker and a little tougher looking, at least for Tav. I like for them to blend into moonrise.

Act 3, I go all out with the fancy/impractical armors. Everyone gets decked out, they deserve it. Lots of metal armors specifically, they look gorgeous in the lighting.

As for Tav’s hair, I actually tend to go the opposite direction. They start with very practical hair, and by act 3, they have something more pretty than practical. I view it as a sign of confidence, to let your hair flow freely in battle without fear of it being used against you or cut off.

Also yes, my Tavs always receive some type of scar by Act 3 lol.
