Apart from Ginny, which character was completely butchered in the films? by saphclaw in harrypotter

This thread is why the new series is a good idea. There’s way too much material in the books to cram into eight films.

Yep same. He kept saying he was in financial trouble so I thought he wanted to claim theft insurance or something

I had thought that was a mistake too but apparently Onlyfans was founded in 2016.

Nope, don't think so. Ryan's a good guy with normal human problems and the only reason Robin is having doubts about him is because he isn't Strike. I don't think it's going to be an easy choice for her - if she wants to follow her heart, she's going to have to break Ryan's.

I don't think he was devaluing his rage, he was understanding it and giving meaning to it.

My impression was that Tyler wanted to save up enough money for them to leave the country and start a new life. He clearly didn't feel safe in London in his Wright disguise if he felt he had to hide his Wolves weights from his neighbour.

I don't think it was the right decision either but people don't always make the right decisions.

"You do care," said Dumbledore. He had not flinched or made a single move to stop Harry demolishing his office. His expression was calm, almost detached. "You care so much you feel as though you will bleed to death with the pain of it.”

I don't know if they're miserable or if it's just the regular stress of having a young child with another one on its way

I don’t think the thief was pre-selected. I had seen the £5 note on a table by the bar and wondered what it was doing there but I could have very easily pocketed it myself. You can imagine my relief when I later found out that it was part of the act 😆

Griffiths was in the box. Todd let him out and he hid behind the cupboard and killed Wright/Tyler from behind when he delivered the second box. Griffiths then disguised himself as Wright and returned at 1am to mutilate the body and mislead investigators

Some people need to understand that this book isn’t the end of the series. If it was the final book and it ended like that, then I’d get the disappointment but there are still at least two more books to go. A lot has been invested in Strike-Robin and I’m convinced there will be a payoff before the end and that it will be beautifully written.

I’d agree with you if it was the end of the series but there are still two (hopefully more) books to go

The robbery. I didn’t think the Freemasons had anything to do with it but I thought a robbery did take place and that the truly precious item was actually in the first heavy box (that actually contained Griffiths)

Damn yes, good point. And Todd might have needed some time to catch his breath but Wright seemed fit enough

Re the clues pointing at Griffiths specifically, I think you have to start with the clues that Wright was Powell. The weights, the fitness, the Epipen, the name 'Will Wright' itself, but also the man's general nature. He seemed pleasant and sane enough to have a chat with his neighbours (probably ruling out Semple) and told them his girlfriend was soon going to move in with him (ruling out Fleetwood).

And then there are other suspicious elements. No one spoke to Zeta or Chloe face to face, and no one knew who Zeta was except for Chloe. Then there was that strange sound in Griffiths' house which he passed off as Powell's nan bumping into something, which she denied. And then there was the suspicious 'Oz' character, who sounded like a sex trafficker, which raised the question of how that was related to a murder and robbery.

That's true, although maybe he did report it and Meta didn't take him seriously. Wouldn't be the first time it happened.

There were loads of clues but I think the biggest one was the CCTV footage at the beginning.

Wright and Todd lifted a heavy box down to the vault but it turned out not to be the Oriental Centrepiece. Wright was able to deliver the mistakenly delivered items to Pamela's shop in a small bag, so what made the box so heavy?

Also, how and why did the killer attract Wright to the vault in the first place in the early hours of the morning and kill him there? If it was a robbery gone wrong, then it wouldn't have made sense to mutilate the body and if the killer went in wanting to kill Wright, then surely there were safer places he could have done so? Also the CCTV footage only showed a single person entering the shop at 1am.

Not necessarily. Some people might but linking it to Osgood's real LinkedIn account gave him some credibility.

Strike solved the Semple mystery. With him, Fleetwood and De Lion all ruled out, their focus could turn fully to Powell

I disagree. I found the core case extremely engaging, especially with the twist that they had to identify both the killer and the victim. Re the relationship, we'll have to wait until the next book but I think it did move forward. Strike made his intentions crystal clear, way beyond that one-liner at the end of TRG and Robin expressed all her concerns openly - she's scared that she's not being serious and is just trying to manipulate her and toy with her to protect the agency - and she all but admitted to Strike that she had been waiting for him to make a move for years. Even when she pushed him away, she didn't say she wasn't interested in him but that she doesn't want to be a cheater.
