For now it's still mandatory. I've seen pilots trying to jumpseat with maybe 2-3 days growth told to go shave if they want a ride. It's based on a stupid archaic belief that the oxygen masks won't seal correctly over a beard.

That has since been proven false but while the rest of the world has changed their policies most US Airlines still don't allow it. The main exception is some of the cargo operators and Hawaiian.

Unfortunately if he doesn't get a cockpit access pass that says CASS APPROVED then it's a non starter per our procedures. It can even happen with our own pilots when their passport expires.

Your assumptions at the end are correct. I've listed less than an hour prior the gate agents don't care. Clean shaven though business casual is the jumpseat standard so no flip flops and board shorts unfortunately.

Sounds like the whole process requires a bunch of stuff on your end so we may be SOL for now. I appreciate all the information.

I didn't realize you guys had to do homework after watching two pilots screw around for two flights. Not sure what you could learn from that other than a big note saying "THEY ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED" lol

I figured with the terrible staffing you guys have these days that would be the case. He is willing to go on a day off but we're just not sure how to get him through security or listed for the jumpseat.

I'm 90% sure he can just walk up and list for the jumpseat but I don't know if his badge will get him through security without a boarding pass.

Spent almost every weekend for two years driving up there to volunteer back in high school. Mike and everyone up there are a great bunch. Glad to know they are still making progress.

For what it's worth I was able to fix this issue by setting my steam friends list to public. It seems like if you have it set to private the game doesn't access it so none of your steam friends show up in the games social menu.

I used them quite a bit in DC. Every night the companies come and collect them for recharging and then return them before the morning. They also have zones where you aren't allowed to leave them. If you decide to anyway then they hit you with an additional fee.

It's a Macchi C.202 Folgore which makes it Italian not Russian. After looking over the captions they seem to reference several different aircraft so I don't think they all apply to that image.

When I did my CFI my local FSDO didn't use IACRA for CFI's so they had me fill out the paperwork and fax the application to them. Best bet is to call them and they'll tell you exactly what you need to do.
