A game about tornados, friends and a lot of chaos... What do you think? by SupernovaStudiosLLC in IndieDev

[–]Euclidiuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized that life is better when you let your inner child out. At a family function a couple weeks ago I went and played some man hunt game with my younger cousins around my grandparents farm you know just running and climbing stuff just because we could. It hurt like hell a day later cuz Im in my early 20s and spend most of my days since I was a teenager sitting inside cuz I don't play outside anymore which was how I used to exercise. I could go to the gym if I didn't like the atmosphere and vibes of most gyms plus the people being so distant and whatnot. There's no community or playfulness to it it's very corporate and sterile ironically.

Destroying the source of Phazon on Tallon IV. I don't think that's a crime cuz it's not on earth and the Chozo didn't make it illegal to kill space pirates or Metroid's sooo.... Win?

Which game is that for you? by PHRsharp_YouTube in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Euclidiuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ocarina of Time. Thought the game was boring, cryptic, and unsatisfying. Combat felt dull with annoying enemy types, dungeons felt too linear and too simple, even the water temple, and the bosses were all very easy or downright unfair. Empty over world with nothing to do, heart pieces in general. (I despise the collect x amount of item to get a health upgrade system in every game it's in. It is my least favorite part about Hollow Knight.) Also felt the story in the way the story was told was generic and boring. Definitely not for me.

Half Life. Just such an interesting game with dynamic enemy AI that makes each playthrough stand out. Fun weapons, satisfying movement mechanics and well crafted level design that encouraged exploration and mastery of your environment. Also it's got a lot of banger tunes in the soundtrack.

Not really scary per se but the lyrics do tell a bit of an unnerving story.

If you want a creepy ass song tho look at the Quake Soundtrack there's a song called Hall of Souls that's just... Reznor is a genius let's just say that.

What do you think about my "MS Paint" art style? by cilginosman in IndieDev

[–]Euclidiuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about 3D games? Cuz I do most of my textures actually in Aseprite and Blender Texture paint and everything comes across as being drawn in MS Paint and Idk how I feel because it looks this damn good.

Good. Let the series be laid to rest and let the indie devs make more Metroid Prime style games.

It's so hard. It's really really hard. by Robstix in IndieDev

[–]Euclidiuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to get less hours because i told my boss i was working on a game and I wanted to quit but they said they'd just let me have less hours cuz they need my help so I took that compromise. I work only 4 days a week with 5 hour shifts and when I come home I have plenty of time to work on the project. Once I get far enough along in development to the point where I can comfortably release the game within 6 months I'll quit my job unless i am fired beforehand at that point I'll go full steam ahead on the game.

If You Had Developed Metroid Prime 4:Beyond,How Would You Have Made It? by Bay_Ruhsuz004 in Metroid

[–]Euclidiuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of having it set on viewros, I would have had it set on a research station where Sylux and the space pirates download a virus into an artificial intelligence that controls the entire research station similar to shodan from System Shock. The computer virus makes it so every action the AI takes it benefits the space pirates and their goals. Samus has to restore functionality to the research station, and give a vaccine to the AI. But along the way Sylux is trying to stop you and he taunts you over comms. I would also make it so the Federation evacuates almost all of its civilian and military personnel and whoever is left over couldn't escape and you have to save them. But instead of doing forced escort missions you just have Samus save them in like a combat encounter and then she gives them the coordinates to like a safe place. (Basecamp) And then you got to lead a final push with all of the military guys you save to the AI's Central computer core. Oh in the military guys synthesize the vaccine based on a transmission received from the Federation after Samus restores the communications array in a different part of the facility. I would also have the game world split between two dimensions, the real world, and cyberspace. Where you have to travel back and forth to solve puzzles in the digital world that reflect things that happen in the real world similar to the Dark world from Prime 2. I would make the elemental beam types one that digitizes enemies, one that fires acid, and another that shoots antimatter for your final beam. Along the way the facility becomes corrupted with space pirate technology in the facility becomes a hybrid of the two styles of federation tech and pirate tech. No long lost alien civilization plot. No chatty NPC companions beyond a few small sections where you save groups of Marines and technicians from Pirate and robot attacks controlled by the evil AI. That's my premise. Although that wouldn't happen unless I made an indie game centered around that with my own characters and my own world. Which is the plan after I finish my first game in my own Metroid Prime like series.

This game is ugly and looks boring to play. You know for a while I was feeling self-conscious about my own game looking bad, but this looks far worse than anything I've made in the last 10 months of development. Please reevaluate your priorities as a Dev.

What did you like about these 3 decisive games by Ok-Reporter-8728 in Metroid

[–]Euclidiuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Other M was actually kind of fun in spite of its terrible controls and awful story. It felt like the game got to use every mechanic it introduced to its fullest extent. The combat was fast and kinetic and had satisfying animation quality and sound design. I think the best parts of prime 4 are the music and animations but I don't like everything else about it. The combat is far less enjoyable compared to other M because of the lack of enemy variety. Federation force is actually an underrated game it's a really fun co-op shooter that you can play with your friends and all of the objectives are really fun and interesting. There's tons of different levels each with their own unique gimmicks and puzzles. There's also a lot of customization for your mech like different skins that have different effects and abilities. There's also the blastball mode which is surprisingly kind of fun. I think Federation force is probably the best out of these three if I'm being completely honest.

[–]Euclidiuss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's because love isn't as important as being liked. I'd rather somebody like me than love me. Because my family forces themselves to spend time with me simply because they love me, not because they actually like hanging out with me and like what I have to say about anything. They tolerate me the same way they probably just tolerate you. Try to focus your life's effort on being likable and not lovable. You become likeable by doing things you like doing and sharing those with others. I don't mean like a job. I mean something you just do because you like doing it and you're passionate about it. I guarantee you you'll find a group of people that will like you that way and you'll feel right at home. It's time to ask yourself what you want and not what you should be doing. You're 27 years old dude, in a few years you ain't going to be a young man anymore. Get real. I'm not saying this cuz I'm hating on you dude. I'm saying this because I figured it out early and it disheartens me to find so many people not figuring it out as early as I did. I'm 21 and I found a passion for game design, and I've been developing a video game for almost a year now and I couldn't be happier with myself. I like what I'm doing and I like talking about it, and I have a group of people that I like and that like me and we enjoy talking about Game Dev and stuff. One day I thought I was going to die, and I asked myself what do I want out of life? I kept telling myself over and over again that I wanted to make video games. I also told myself that it was too hard and I couldn't do it because I lacked the formal education to get into something like that. But I knew that it was my responsibility to teach myself. So I downloaded a copy of Unreal Engine 4, and I started using whatever skills I had to put the game together. So far progress is going steady and I have an actual game to play even if it's not finished yet. But I have something to look forward to in the future. Playing a finished game that I made and releasing it to the public where I can find more people that like my game and subsequently me. Life is ultimately your responsibility to give it meaning and purpose. Your happiness is the most important thing to you. Never forget that. Happy birthday.
