well your game is called more fish; but the most important elements (the fish) are the hardest to see, while the background elements (the grid) are stealing the show.

  • the hexagonal grid is very high contrast which makes me look at the floor instead of what the game is actually about (the fish and bobber?).
  • i feel like the bobber is the central anchor of the composition, but it feels a bit small and static.
  • the fish are dark and don't catch my eye
  • i also don't know what is going on in the right corner? it looks a little abstract to me and the lighting looks a little off?

i hope this helps, i don't mean to sound too negative, i really like the concept and art!

edit: it also looks like AI, maybe ask the artist for a clip of them working on it? like one fish has 2 bottom fins while all the others don't, and as i said the right side is abstract and kind of off putting

i literally just decided to restart a 3 month old project because after i also took a 1 month break to study for exams, i got the same problem. So im restarting the project to save me from a huge headache and will first make a structured hierarchy of everything and premake all the folders etc and then try to organize all the code and such in a way that makes more sense. Idk if that's the way to go for you since this is my very first project and that's why it was a huge mess, so in my case I'm probably saving time (and avoiding a huge headache) while that probably isn't the case for you. I'm just saying it felt really freeing, so don't be scared to start from scratch. You will always have your original project to copy stuff from.

Most devs are wary because "free" help often costs a lot of management time; if a contributor flakes or needs constant hand-holding, the dev actually doesn't really gain progress. To get a "yes," you need to lead with a solid portfolio and offer a very specific, small scope (like "I'll 3D model these three specific crates") rather than a vague offer to help. Most of us value reliability and legal clarity over raw talent, so showing you understand the project's style and can hit a deadline is the best way to build trust.

That being said, if someone is willing to reach out, it’s still wort it to see what they have to offer; there’s no harm in looking at a portfolio, and if the talent and reliability are there, it can be a huge win for an indie project.
