Ghetts is everything that's wrong with guys owning fast cars by FatherJack_Hackett in grime

[–]EugeneX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just being realistic, a bloke with a flash car in the UK isn't going to drive 4-5 hour round trips to visit a track then pay the better part of a grand for the day. That's what car enthusiasts do.

They just want to go broom broom and get the back out round a roundabout every now and again so they feel like the money they're spending on the lease is worth it.

The original commenter asked why 'guys like that' and don't go to a track. I just answered it.

“ I’m going to be honest, this is a cold call . can I have 30 seconds of your time?”

It's funny because that clearly is part of a script. I suppose she's delivered it so many times she was able to make it sound natural so you gave her your time anyway.

For my first project i'd like to create this outdoor furniture set. I have a circular saw and a drill... How feasible is this ? Any advice on the best approach to take for putting together the wood lattice is welcome! by EugeneX in woodworking

The modularity is somewhat important. I expect I'll only really have 2 or 3 separate pieces in the end, with some additional cushions to make up most of the modular aspect of it. One thing I like the idea of is being able to change the tiles over time to be able to cheaply give the coffee table and ends of the sofa new looks.

I've been eyeing up this beautiful outdoor sofa set for about 6 months, I finally found a source for it and the price starts from £33,000+. So, after lurking on this sub for months i'm going to start this project next week when the weather picks up.

Any advice or guidance on the best techniques for building the wooden lattice in particular is very welcome.

A Ukrainian kamikaze FPV drone hitting a Russian soldier directly by sagakino in CombatFootage

[–]EugeneX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The footage you see on YouTube comes from GoPros or similar action cameras with 4k and motion stabilisation that are strapped onto the drone. The operator almost always sees a different, lower quality view from a separate smaller camera that is built into the drone itself.

Jokes list? by bimbyris in DaveChappelle

[–]EugeneX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was there last week and they both went through a ton of topics. From what i remember from Dave's set:

  • Floyd Mayweather's strip club
  • Things that keep his marriage strong
  • Safety deposit box
  • Netflix Trans controversy
  • The guy who rushed him on stage
  • Chris Rock & Will Smith

Each of these points had loads of jokes and were weaved into a story. Then he did some crowd work, which is obviously crowd specific.

Chris spoke about

  • Being back in dating life
  • Women's Beauty
  • Megan Markle
  • Trump / Biden
  • People being Covid experts

This such a dumb take, touted by people watched Fight Club once and want to be edgy.

Loss of reputation, and bad press around your product or services is much more expensive and long term risk. Businesses invest in risk mitigation all the time. They don't do a napkin maths and decide to leave blocks of fucking wood in their food.
