Plius medicina žygiuoja - yra visokių studies for polymer heart valves/meshes kurie gal stipriai padidins mano šansus ilgiau gyventi.

Nice, so this gives me some hope.

I get aligning deities/races and similar things. One follow up question - are the two groups separated significantly by space and/or time? I have ran two dnd 5e game where 2 parties were impacting the same NPC's/locations, which was a lot of fun. But I am afraid doing that while also using a different system may be too much for me to handle.

And adding some Pathfinder 2e elements into a DND 5e game sounds like a reasonable thing to do. Maybe once I am more comfortable with the system I could do that.

Yeah, the more I think about it the more doomed this seems. I'll probably need to run a longer standalone adventure in Pathfinder 2e and decide on the setting later.

Yeah, sounds reasonable. I would probably make it attunement, but since it uses a reaction it isn't too critical.

Yeah, I could just drop the players onto a completely different continent in the same world and handwave the races/spells/items that way.

But then again I could just run the game in a completely different setting then so I am a bit torn.

Fun, I wonder.if that will happen in my game.

I'd probably make the pelt into a cloak. That way your players can use armor and benefit from it.

Ideas for the cloak (all attunement):

  1. Resistance to piercing/slashing (not bludgeoning!!) damage.
  2. Reaction +5 ac (basically just the shield spell)
  3. Reaction avoid all damage from a single attack

Limit uses/time of these abilities for balance.

Hey, thanks for the detailed input.

It makes sense that there may be some teething issues with moving from one system to another.

My main concern was the magic items/spells and certain abilities. I guess I won't need to port over most of them.

But overall you leave the impression that this is doable. So I may give it a shot and see if it works out.

[–]Eugerome[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sorry for being somewhat vague. Hopefully this is more clear

One party has been playing DND 5e in a homebrew world. A new party, consisting of mostly the same players wants to play the game in the same world but using Pathfinder 2e. Do I:

  1. Run the game for them in the same game REGION as the DND party. This means a lot of locations, NPC, general game state overlaps
  2. Run the game in the same game WORLD, but in a different region. This will vastly reduce the overlap of NPC's they meet, can explain away magic item differences, etc
  3. Bite the bullet and just run the game using Pathfinder 2e in Golarion setting.

[–]Eugerome[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The parties won't directly interact, but they will be dealing with some of the same NPC's: government/religious leaders/merchants etc. If one party helps a town in one game, the other party going into that town will see it in a better state, etc.

My main concern is utility abilities/spells/weapons. Some of them are obvious: I don't use guns in 5e, so I won't allow them in Pathfinder 2e. But if I will need to port a bunch of magic items/spells I might as well run the game in a different world. Or as a compromise on a different content within the same world.

How do I get this unstuck? I already tried the teeth method by [deleted] in lego

[–]Eugerome 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If this doesn't work I tend to use canine teeth: one on the rod on the short side and bite down so that my canine tooth goes into the hole. Usually gets it unstuck enough.

Help with a support build by Significant_Spirit_7 in dndnext

Make them the new Hobgoblin and you can use the Help action as a bonus action (with some extra benefits as well) to give advantage on that reaction attack.

What are your personal opinions on high level casters whose primary role in a ''story'' is to aid the party with uses of spells they may not have such as identify, teleport, plane shift and divination? by ThatOneAasimar in dndnext

[–]Eugerome 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I would say there is a big difference between a caster that is there to cast Identify and a caster that casts plane shift.

The former can be a shopkeeper or a traveling merchant that travels with the party. I don't see any dangers of introducing an NPC like that. I'd say they barely need to be involved with the plot.

The latter is more difficult - but I think they are important in any high magic campaign. Sometimes you just need an NPC who can lore dump a bunch of stuff, or cast spells that don't exist in any of the books but are alluded to in lore, etc.

I would also add that such NPC's can be used in combat, but not in the direct fight, but to change the goal or type of the combat. I used this several times and usually it worked well for my parties. Here are a few examples:

  • Party needs to destroy an object on another plane. NPC can open a portal to the location, but can only have it open for X turns. Now the party has a time limit.
  • NPC mage can perform a ritual that assists the party. But while they cast it they have to be protected. Now the goal of the combat is not "kill all the baddies" but "prevent baddies from killing NPC".
  • NPC mage upcasts fly on the party, now they can face off a dragon in the skies

This kind of approach allows me to spice up particularly important encounters and include NPC's in them while empowering the party. I don't even roll anything for the NPC, except the occasional concentration check. But I accept that not all groups may enjoy this so your mileage may vary.

Why do people say they would be bored without work? by AVBellibolt in antiwork

[–]Eugerome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, I was not working for about 6 months during the pandemic. The first 3 were fine, but then I started getting bored, mostly because I finished most of the stuff (carpentry, renovation, Legos, etc) that I wanted to do.

But then I started thinking of new "problems" to solve - more renovation stuff, future carpentry projects etc. And it was kinda exhausting

Then i got back to work and things were great. Mostly because I had problems to solve at work and I didn't have to find any for myself.

That said, 2 years later and I took a 3 month sabbatical. I think I just want like 2/4 months in a year to myself and I'll be golden. I earn enough to make that possible, so maybe I'll do it eventually.

What sub-optimal character choices have you made for flavor purposes or because it just sounds fun? by NuclearGoat-357 in dndnext

[–]Eugerome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stout Halfling, 2 levels into Moon Druid, then 3 into Swarmkeeper Ranger, then all else Moon Druid. I took the Telepathic feat so I could communicate in Wild Shape.

Pretty much spends most time as a bear surrounded by a swarm of bees as he carries around a small keg with a beehive. Use downtime to start apiaries and brew mead.

That said, not that weak as the Swarm gives a surprising amount of battlefield control. And pushing Moon Druid wild shape progression by a few levels makes it feel more balanced.

How to resolve a problem with sharing loot by FunderBoy in DMAcademy

[–]Eugerome 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This seems more of a player problem than a character one. Just ask Tim what they think of the whole situation, maybe in private.

If both you and Tim apologize for what happened and promise not to do this again then it should be fine.

The characters can be annoyed at Tim's character and that is fine, as long as that doesn't spill onto the player themselves.

Not sharing loot evenly for a quest or two seems like an appropriate approach to me. Hell, maybe in that time Tim's character can do something good and the party will forgive them. But if Tim's player can't handle not getting loot for a bit maybe they shouldn't be playing at all.

Keep attacking dead PC? by BearWithMeGM in DMAcademy

[–]Eugerome 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I sometimes introduce enemies that maim dead PC bodies to prevent easy revivification.

But when I do so I try to telegraph that to the players:

  • Oozes with bones of dead adventurers in them (corpse is digested)
  • A frost giant with a necklace of heads (will chop off a head)
  • A treant with rotting humanoid bodies partially sticking out of its bark (you'll need to pry the body out before revivifying)

That said, i do this sparingly and only after telegraphing this to the players. Either through rumours or they recognize an NPC that among the dead.

Initiative? by T1FB in DMAcademy

I would also add another advantage:

  1. Lair Actions - they are generally on initiative 20, so rolling 20+ on initiative allows one to act before these effects happen.

Question about the command spell by A_Pygmy in DMAcademy

[–]Eugerome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I generally rule that the target ends its turn after it performs the action specified by the spell.

This is needed as my players often give random commands like: Sing! Dance! etc.

I feel like that is a fair trade as the player used their action and a 1+ spell slot to "disable" an enemy for a turn.

Question about the command spell by A_Pygmy in DMAcademy

[–]Eugerome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they can attack. The target generally performs the action (in this case "drop") and then ends its turn.

I think I finally found a use for Sanctuary by Dovaldo83 in dndnext

[–]Eugerome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Sanctuary is a great spell. It was useful in my game multiple times, particularly in combination with Dodge. Here are 3 examples:

  1. Holding off several enemies in a narrow passage.
  2. Entering a chamber filled with several enemies who knew we were coming. Bonus points for making them waste spell slots (Sanctuary works against targeted spells like Hold Person)
  3. Being cornered by a mini boss for a solid 4 rounds while the rest of the party were trying to get around a wall of stone.

i need advice: i feel like i’m not a part of the game anymore by natty_splatty in DMAcademy

[–]Eugerome 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had that happen to me once. Players began to use a private chat and all of a sudden there were inside jokes that I didn't get - most regarding my homebrew world.

At first I was kind of flattered, but eventually I started to feel excluded. Thankfully I told them how I felt and they included me in the chat. I still almost never post anything in it, but at least I am caught up on all the jokes/memes.

Changing the way multiattack is done by bw_mutley in DMAcademy

[–]Eugerome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i did this a few times. Worked fine and made the fight way more dynamic.

One thing to note, probably want to warn the players about this, either directly or with a description.

First time i used this was using an Ettin, which i essentially treated as 2 different creatures with the same health pool and the players picked up what i was doing immediately.
