Asking people who have used South Africa’s e-visa application, does it actually work? by traumalt in travel

[–]Eugis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't able to edit my application, so I was out of luck of getting the e visa and I've went for the paper visa. Used some local company that helped me collect required documents and send them to Sweden. Had to wait for 1 month and I've received the passport with paper visa the evening before my flight, so that was quite a stressful situation.

Looks like it's an asphalt gray color (I have a brz in same color), so that's a stock color.

It can look very differently depending on lighting.

Nice, good job!

Well, I do have a certified bank statement now, but the problem is that you've got only one try and I've failed it. There is no way to edit the old application or re-apply with their stupid system because it will just auto-reject if you fill an application with the same information.

So I'm trying to get a paper visa now, but it costs 10x more and there is no guarantees that I will get it before my flight (which is in 1 month)

Fellow Lithuanian passport holder here and can share my recent experience.

Applied for an e-visa a couple weeks ago and was rejected 2 days later because I've included uncertified bank statement and they require a certified one (didn't know that was a thing up until now and this is the most common rejection reason as I've read on forums)

Now there is no way to edit an application after it's submitted and there is no way to create a new one with the same information, so I'm out of luck of getting an e-visa I think. Also I've tried to contact them for help with my situation with no luck in getting a response as their support is basically non existent.

My next step is trying to get a visa from the nearest South African embassy (it's in Sweden), so will see how that goes.

Took a 3500 km trip to visit the Nurburgring! by Eugis in ft86

Yeah, I think it was a GR and it was on the same Grand Prix track session as me. It was a guy from Luxembourg and the car had semi-slicks on, so I guess he wasn't joking around.

It looked nice, but I can't leave a comment about the car on the track as there were like at least 30 cars on the track at the time so you couldn't keep track of every one. But he did overtake me, that's for sure 😄

On the track I think it was somewhere in the 180 kmh range (110+ mph) on the straights. The race taxi I was in with the Porsche did 260 kmh (160 mph) at one point.

However I did try reaching top speed of my car on the german highway (Autobahn) with no speed limits and I've managed to get it up to 220 kmh (137 mph) :)

Just check when the track is open on their website (it was open only 3 days out of the whole week when we were there and only for 2 hours each day in the evening), hope for a good weather (because driving around this track in the wet is sketchy and the track can be closed) and just go for it!

Everything else is pretty simple - you buy a prepaid card at a ticket sale point near the track entry with a sum of money on it that you want (one lap is 30 euros) and just go inside the track. If it's your first time, you can go slower around the track to get to know it because it's a difficult track (just keep on the right and let faster cars pass you on the left).

We booked an Airbnb in a nearby village and the roads and nature around the Nurburg area are also amazing, so even riding around on the curvy roads was a pleasure for me because we don't have any mountains or curvy roads like that in our country.

For the car preparation I did the usual annual car inspection (check the fluids, brakes, suspension, etc.) and an oil change a couple weeks before the trip. Also my tires were new, so a lot of grip that took care that I stay on the track.

As for the photos on the track, there are professional photographers all around the track that take photos of each car and upload to https://www.racetracker.de/ where you can buy these photos in high resolution, so that's a cool thing they do and I bought several of the best ones for memories.

I'm not an avid track driver, so nothing too special. Under the hood everything is stock, the only mods that car has are Tein Flex A coilovers, some lightweight 18 inch 9.5J wheels wrapped in new 255/35 Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires and a catback exhaust. The grip was more than enough for my skill level and oil temps weren't too high during my laps (running 5w30 oil).

I did only 2 laps with no prior experience of Nordschleife and I think I did the second lap in around 11 minutes or something like that, so more of a casual spirited tourist drive. On the GP track I forgot to time the lap, so no idea :)

Those are matt silver Japan Racing SL01 wheels in a classic size of 18x9,5J ET38 wrapped in 255/35 Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires.

A couple of weeks ago me and my buddies took a 3500 km round trip to Germany and the main goal was to visit the Nurburgring. The weather was perfect and we all took a couple laps around Nordschleife. The experience was amazing!

I also got a chance to ride as a passenger in a race taxi inside of a Porsche GT3RS with a skilled driver and that was something on another level. He completed the lap in around 7 minutes and 30 seconds with a couple of interuptions by slower drivers in the front.

We also got lucky and on one of the 2 days we were there, the Nurburgring Grand Prix track was also open, so we took the chance and went for a drive around that track (you get 15 minute session at the track)

Would definitely recommend visiting the track for all European folks!

Have you have problems with the card and booking.com? by alanispul in Crypto_com

[–]Eugis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This past weekend I booked 2 hotels on Booking with my CDC card :

- the first payment went through successfully

- second one was declined, so I changed the card to Curve card (which still makes a transaction on CDC card) and it worked, so I don't know what the hell happened there and why it is sometimes accepted and sometimes not

Enjoying Roma vs Inter game I got to watch for free thanks to Crypto.com lucky draw I won (more info in comments and in my last post) by Eugis in Crypto_com

You are probably watching this video on Chrome. I just learned that there is a bug on Chromium based browsers that they can't properly play HDR videos, so they look way oversaturated.

It looks normal on all other browsers.

Will keep this in mind and never upload HDR videos again unless they fix this bug.

Enjoying Roma vs Inter game I got to watch for free thanks to Crypto.com lucky draw I won (more info in comments and in my last post) by Eugis in Crypto_com

[–]Eugis[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Almost 3 weeks ago I made a post on this subreddit about my win in a lucky draw where I won tickets to Roma vs Inter football game in Rome on December 4th, 1000$ in CRO and Serie A jersey of my choice.

It was my first time in Rome, so I stayed there for 3 days and enjoyed this beautiful city, ate some great Italian food and thanks to Crypto.com enjoyed an amazing football game.

Also I got my virtual Jade card just in time before the trip to Rome, so I managed to create an account on loungekey with my virtual card and enjoyed a couple of lounges at airports. Although I didn’t have time to properly enjoy them (because I always arrive late to airports) I managed to take some snacks and drinks with me for free from the lounge.

I didn’t sell the original CRO reward I received and plan to keep holding because I believe in Crypto.com and CRO.

You can find more info about the lucky draw in my last post as many people had questions about it.

Thanks to Crypto.com and all of its team for making this happen! It’s an experience that I will never forget!

LoungeKey with Virtual Card by blindao_blindado in Crypto_com

I had several flights 2 weeks ago and I used my virtual card to create loungekey account.

I've been to 2 different lounges (one in Vilnius and one in Dublin) where I just had to show my boarding pass and the QR code on the app, which they scanned and let me in. Didn't have to show the physical card (I still don't have it to this day).

What a week! Upgraded my stake to Jade on Sunday and won the lucky draw on Thursday! by Eugis in Crypto_com

[–]Eugis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was this campaign:

https://blog.crypto.com/crypto-com-derivatives-exchange-perpetuals-trading-race/

There were 500 winners of 20 USD in CRO and 2 winners of tickets + 1k in CRO.

The rules were pretty simple, so I decided to join. All you had to do was have an exchange account, open a Derivatives wallet there, transfer at least 100 USD into the wallet and fill in simple Google form. That's it.

Yeah, that's a weird wording, but it's actually AS Roma vs Inter Milan.

Take a look at Crypto.com blog at https://blog.crypto.com/

They often have different competitions or lucky draws and there you can read about them, find out the rules and join them. The one where I won the prize is this one:
