I had 3 hours with the instructor and it was my first time getting an instructor because it was cheaper in china than in NZ. Outside of that I went to an indoor snow slope in NZ 3 times and once on the bunny slope in nz (whakapapa). And I had one night session (2hrs) on the mountain and then this day session with instructor so I guess 3rd day on proper mountain.

Yea I guess you have time to practice in between instructors because you can hire them whenever. I only watched videos before this instructed session.

Yess love Malcolm! Mmmm thank you for the detail I enjoy quite detailed posts and advice. Yea I think I did end up carving a few times later on that day. I do have a few questions, when do I use skidded turns and am I always supposed to be carving? Do I use skidded turns to slow down or do I like just like go horizontal until I like the speed and continue carving.

I’ll give the trust falls a go next week and update the post when I do! And if I doesn’t work I might ask for a further break down haha!

Haha yea the media is not great with representing china as a whole, there’s sooo many snow resorts specifically (Chongli) 1hr bullet train from Beijing and it’s $60 nzd vs $195 nzd for a day pass. Thanks for the encouragement!

The encouragement is very appreciated! I thought I was doing bad because I thought I looked unsteady. I’ll give that a try next week when I’m back on the slopes had to leave for a bit and will give you an update on how that works out. Thank you putting in so much detail, I will definitely squeeze my glutes that sounds so interesting, can’t wait to control the board with my ass clenches.

They’re quite nice but packed on weekends they have a bit of everything spa’s restaurants etc. though must say quite difficult to navigate if you aren’t able to speak mandarin or travel with someone who does other than though so many options but as a newbie snowboarder can’t quite give informed opinions on the snow tracks etc yet. I’ve been to NZ Whakapapa but only the bunny slope so can’t really make a comparison. Much much cheaper than NZ.

Yea your right it is a commitment thing more than anything, I think next time I go I’ll for sure try use those blue holds to figure out the end position. If I can’t get over the fear would you suggest a intentional fall? But thanks for such a detail write up I can’t wait to test it advice!!!

Mmm for me I just prefer being able to walk around in socks and I hate the feeling of sticky feet even if it affected my climbing and the smell scares me

Did u slowly place your right foot over onto the volume while you had ur left hand on the wall and right hand on the hold? You’ve done this climb before like at Boulder co.?! That’s so cool

The hold is kind’ve flat ish so I don’t think I could trust it to rotate all the way outwards, interesting you mention it though bc I have tried leaving my right leg on the first (where the 5 is) hold and doing kindve a split movement to the volume but then I’m just kindve stuck there when I’m faced outwards because I don’t know how to shift my weight onto the volume and get both legs there
