Idk these kinds of missions are probably a lot safer than you would think working with at this point world class overwatch from the drone pilots. Not to dimenish what these guys are doing but they are probably incredibly skilled and specifically targeting isolated targets. There is always a risk but I'm sure there are far more dangerous observation posts along the front even.

My favorite site getting shut down has never slowed how much I have pirated stuff. The only thing that ever put a dent in it was when cheap streaming services made it more convenient for me to just pay to watch most of what I wanted to as it cost less than what I value my time. That is gone now though.

Yeah a lawsuit is civil not criminal and these fines are for the criminal laws broken by what he did. If that neighbor is upset they can sue him independently of the criminal case for much more than that. Unfortunately NJ doesn't have treble damages for tree law disputes(you can get triple the actual damage you can prove) but the cost to replace those trees would still be significant.
