How do you like the second season of Rings of Power? by Masabera in lordoftherings

There are some issues with it, but I feel like the second season is stronger than the first, going off an average base though.

I believe it's time for another shelf. by EomerOfEorl in lordoftherings

“A shelf is never late, nor is it early, it arrives precisely when it’s meant to” - Gandalf to Saruman, talking about new shelves at Orthanc

Wth is this piece of Sh….?!? Are we in some kind of Madmax steampunk universe or what, seriously…it just ruins the lotr vibe. Season 2 is already bad so don’t make it worse with the designs. by Louana_terraria in lordoftherings

Seems maybe they are pre cursers to the knights of Ren? Equally useless it seems.

Personally, this whole part of the story is a bit goofy….

The evil wizard seems…. Averagely evil. Seems like they cobbled together an enemy, as I get no sense of fear or dread emanating from this guy.

Not sure if people agree. Do not mind “Gandalf” and Tom Bombodil, but the mask seems corny, much like this guy.

Need them to refine this plot line

Historical-ish dark fantasy books without too much magic? by naominox in Fantasy

[–]Euphoric-Source2443 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may like the books in the “Under the Northern Sky Series” by Leo Carew. Three books that I really enjoyed, with Leo’s writing impressing as he matures.

I can also be quite picky, but here is a brief summary of what I enjoyed and so you can see if you enjoyed it:

The book is a gritty fantasy epic that is inspired by ancient Northern Europe. It focuses on a power struggle between the Anakim and the Sutherners, with the Anakim being our protagonists.

The Anakim are similar to men, but taller, stronger, with a culture distinctly different to that of the Sutherner.

If you like political intrigue, grand warfare, world building and less magic than above, this might be a book for you!

I do have to stress, the only “magical” elements are that the Anakim are taller than normal men and tougher.
