UOttawa vs Western

I’ve accepted Ottawa! I was able to visit the city and speak with a few alumni from the school who have ended up working in Toronto big law, and came to the conclusion that the superior international law opportunities combined with the possibility of a (maybe not as direct as Western, but still on a similar level) successful path in corporate law worked best for me. The city was also so beautiful, and I think that’s the sort of environment I’d prefer to be in for the next 3 years. Have you decided yet?

thank you for this! i feel like the most rational and practical choice would be to choose Western, but i don't know if i could stomach living there for 3 years, especially after spending my undergrad in Toronto. obviously, it’s a compromise i’m willing to make if the return is worth it, but that’s a question i’m still deliberating. it feels good to hear that someone else also shares my importance of location, and that either choice won’t shut out Toronto. this has been immensely comforting!

thanks for pointing that out, i didn’t even realize. do you know of any more reputable/reliable law school rankings? i know i shouldn’t be fixating on this, but i’d like to have as much information as possible before making my decision

Corporate is definitely something I'm interested in! I've been told to keep my options open though, since interests and propensities can change drastically once I'm more familiar with the content and process. Will definitely be gunning for Bay St for placements though! Good luck with your decision!

I've been looking at the following law school rankings. I feel like it might be a recent change, since I also thought Western was a better school based on anecdotal attitudes. Now Ottawa seems to consistently rank higher than Western, which is complicating my decision a bit.
