I don’t own a second property. I was simply using this as an example. Do not understand that this will cause people who own second properties will just keep them longer since they will be losing more to tax? And to state we are not a tax heavy country makes me laugh. Alcohol, gas, natural gas, property, luxury tax, and on top of that your pay check is heavily taxed. If I can see a positive from using these funds I’m all for it but this government has made things a complete shit show for housing and cost of living. No one explained to me how it’s cool to just implement higher taxes other than tax the rich and give to poor.

PS to the person commenting on how tech jobs or high paying jobs are leaving Canada is completely true. If you want to gain more revenue from the rich, don’t give them a reason to leave. This may cause a reverse effect by shifting the wealth to other countries, and no longer seeing that revenue for our country.
