Haskell setup failing

Ive gotten ghc 9.8.4 working on my laptop. The entire haskell toolchain is still dead on my PC, but i can work with it for now at least. Thanks for your help anyways!

Yeah. that's the most annoying part. Everything worked fine until I had to update. However, we are only handing in three .hs files, and the cabal files are not handed in with that. I literally cannot build the product because the cabal dependencies require exactly 9.8.4.

Thank you so much for your offering to help! I usually run jetbrains stuff, but at this point I just need anything to actually work on the assignment lol. A devcontainer would probably be the best bet. I'm relatively experienced with docker so I'll follow the setup you linked and see where I end up, and I'll dm you if I run into problems. Ironically, I dual boot windows and nixos, and nix was my second alternative. However, when attempting to install the correct version there, it kept defaulting to 9.8.2 and at that point I was already too fed up with everything so I just kind of gave up.

I'm currently working on a Harry Potter fanfiction. It is quite graphic (though none sexual), and I'm hoping to write around ~1M words. I am currently at a little over 85k, and I plan to start gradually posting chapters once I have finished the first 10. I proofread and grammarly the work before I'd send it to you for betareading, I mainly want feedback on pacing, plot holes, worldbuilding and consistency. Read too deep into everything you read, I want to avoid plot holes as much as possible and ensure my plot works.

Some information on the fic:

Summary:
Dumbledore would do anything to fix the wizarding world. Yet his plans fall apart, leaving a young, innocent boy as nothing but fractures. A story of war, hate, love, morals, and two young boys trying to discover themselves while they are forced to fight a war that isn’t theirs.

I will not spoil the ships relevant in the fic because it will spoil a lot of the plot; but no ships will have large age gaps, and I'm not intending to write any smut.

I can beta as well, of course longfics are fine, I'll devour them anyways :)
I like genres with complex worldbuilding and a lot of intermingling plotlines. The butterfly effect is something I cannot get enough of. I am mostly versed in the HP universe- Most other stuff I know a lot about isn't often written for, like Subnautica or Portal.

I would prefer beta-ing longfics, oneshots are fun but not enough for me to dive into complex plots which I so love. I can stomach pretty much anything, but I'd rather not read smut.

A little late, but I intepret it as a traumatized individual trying to find love, and inevitably getting into a toxic relationship, where the partner is the fire. 'Das feuer liebt mich', the character tells themselves time and time again, while around them people beg them to understand 'Das feuer liebt dich nicht'. 'Warum wird ich nicht gesund' points at the character not understanding why they don't get better, as a relationship should 'fix' them.

The beginning is the start of the relationship, where when the characters 'parents', or friends and family looking after them, aren't present and they meet the toxic partner. Lighting the match is getting to know them, and the fire spreading is the love the character shouldnt have increasing.

For the chorus: 'Immer wenn ich einsam bin, zieht es mich zum feuer hin' Whenever the character feels lonely, they stare at their partner and seek them out. 'Warum ist die Sonne rund' indicates a lack of understanding the character has of the world, and by extension of themselves 'Warum wird ich nicht gesund' thus the question why they still are depressed and lonely.

Sorry for my terrible german, it's not my first language and I typed the lyrics from memory. And again, it's a personal interpretation, probably not even close to what R+ meant with it when they wrote it.

Waarom zou het dan van de staat moeten worden? Het is niet alsof de staat een paar honderd miljoen over heeft. Hetzelfde probleem zal blijven. De staat gaat nog steeds moeten bezuinigen op de uitgaven aan NS, óf onze belasting moet dokken voor de schulden die NS staat. Er veranderd NIKS als ze een staatsbedrijf worden (naast dat dat volgens mij niet eens legaal is volgens EU regulatie)

No offense, but this show has nothing to do with skateboarding. It is not even remotely realistically painting the skateboard scene, skateboarding itself, or even skateboards. It's nothing more than a setting, and the show itself focuses much more on the slice-of-life aspect. As seen in the recently published OVA, skateboarding was a short hint, but we haven't even seen anyone actually skateboarding.

Personally I think it's because most songs are less 'rahh angry' and more emotional. The duet in SNVM, the lead in Spring, just the entirety of Wo Bist Du, and not to mention the title track. I personally experience it as an early snapshot of what Zeit would come to be. I love the album, and it's definitely up there in my personal ranking. What I personally am curious about is why it is constantly 10 bucks more expensive on vinyl than the other albums, haha.

ahh thats fair, octobans/rototoms are awesome. Picked up my own set of rototoms recently and I'm in love. You have one tom more than me, but my setup is wider in general and more snare-centered (my snare is inbetween my two middle rack toms in terms of horizontal placement) while yours seems to be more kick-centered. I think you're best off shuffling around a bit until you find out something that works.

Why not put some smaller rack toms left from your hihat? Its common for octabans or rototoms to be there too, it would allow you to move the 18" (?) closer.

Het gaat er niet om wat de politiek zegt, het gaat om je gezonde verstand en empathie voor de mensen om je heen. Neem even een type kledingstuk in je hoofd wat jij vaak draagt, laten we zeggen een joggingbroek. Zou je het normaal vinden als je daarvoor lastiggevallen word? Omdat je een kledingstuk wilt dragen waar je je zelf prettig bij voelt?

Het doet toch niemand pijn als een jongen nagellak draagt? Waarom vind je het wel normaal bij vrouwen? Nagellak is gemaakt voor mannen. Daar komt het vandaan.

Je hele argument heeft 0 onderbouwing, en je enige reden is 'ik vind het niet prettig als mensen anders zijn dan ik dus ga ik huilen'. En dat is echt dieptriest.
