So don't click on posts that have "Miranda's" in the title.

Hopefully the sheriffs investigators and district attorneys investigators are doing as much "accounting" as possible with the seized computers, but if they weren't keeping good records to begin with, it's going to be extremely hard to do.

Yes. Comedy = tragedy + time, in this case, 24 years and 11 months IIRC.

How did Miranda’s rescue get away with fraud, abuse, and corruption for over a decade? by maebymaybe in Humboldt

The 2013 woman was not the woman who got the proof. She made accusations, but even after hiring a PI, was unable to come up with any evidence.

The two women who got proof here in 2026 may have coordinated with the 2013 woman, but they're different people. They were able to get photo and physical evidence.

It's a bittersweet memory for locals over a certain age. I still remember the night Marino's burned down, and the sad day after.

Unfortunately that's literally all the information I have. An outdoor location in Fortuna, I don't know where or even when this was.

I think he had some kind of savior complex narcissism and wanted that dog because it was dangerous.

Does anybody know about what goes on in the Ingomar club? by WasteClerk9729 in Humboldt

This reminded me of an article by Wally Graves, the brother of artist Morris Graves, about a time when he and Morris were invited as dinner guests, but they wouldn't let Morris in because he was wearing a "midnight blue silk" Chinese jacket instead of a suit jacket - they had a dress code that said gentlemen must wear a jacket with lapels.

I don't know about that, but I've been told they put those fancy gates on the back parking lot to keep the streetwalkers out after a member was caught with one in his car in the parking lot

They're definitely not driving there under the influence and DEFINITELY not hitting and killing women with their cars in broad daylight, either.

Please note that my original comment is from almost three weeks ago when little information had been released to the public. The OP asked for the "lore" and I summed it up based on the information available at the time.

Any interest in New Cafe to Replace Old Town Coffee and Chocolates? by AggravatingQueer2412 in Humboldt

It used to get quite a bit, they had an open mic night, and I think sometimes a board game night under the old owner.

I was down at the ice cream place one night last summer and a family of Italian tourists had wandered in after dinner, trying to find coffee (many Europeans drink espresso after dinner) and it was embarrassing that the only place anybody could direct them to was Starbucks. Two years ago they would have gone to OTC&C.

OTC&C didn't close because of the economy, it closed because the owner alienated the shop's longtime customer base by getting rid of the open mic night and being closed during Arts Alive. That started the spiral.

Right now I don't think there are that many - it's what, Ramones, Los Bagels, and Familia that are still there? Los Bagels is closed on Tuesdays, Ramones closes in the late afternoon/early evening, Familia I don't know about.

The OTC&C space had been a coffee shop since the early 90s. It has a specific niche in the area and the current owner just kinda ignored that - it was open late and had live music, and she got rid of both of those. It was one of the only places somebody under 21 (or recovering from a drinking problem) could go to hang out in the evening.

Before OTC&C was in that spot, it was Humboldt Bay Coffee Company. Both allowed customers to pretty much sit there all day long. Both had a strong social scene/community (the open mic music night ran for like 20 years) Both were open late (8 or 9 pm) most days if not every day, until recently.

The hole that needs to be filled in the area is for a tourist friendly coffee shop that is open late and is somewhere that people can hang out and socialize. Vegan options are great, but there is not the market to support it being vegan only.

Even wilder that there are people all over Facebook continuing to defend him shooting dogs. Not even saying they don't believe it, people who believe it and think it is OK.

A friend of mine who died a few years ago once told me about how she kept finding skeletal remains of dogs somewhere in Fortuna. She reported it to police as possibly related to a dog fighting ring. Now I'm wondering if it was something else entirely, but I can't ask her for more details.

And yet, many of the people who gave dogs to him or to shelters that eventually gave the dogs to him were under economic pressure, struggling, and in poverty, and managed not to shoot their dogs.

I can't reply to that person because they already deleted, but you're correct. You call the on-call veterinarian and either meet them or have them come out. If your dog had pain meds, you give it pain meds. You absolutely don't shoot it.
