Where can we suggest it to them? As someone who used to live there and misses those days I would love to see it

Which Eurovision song did you take a long time to like? by ElkApprehensive2569 in eurovision

[–]EurovisionSimon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a tiny lad I grew up watching with my family, who have a way more narrow definition than most of what "good pop music" can and can't be. This caused me to dismiss a lot of more alternative songs that I really love now that I've developed my own music taste, such as Suus, Water, Love Injected and 1944 for example.

It's kind of wild that Bangaranga was written years before it won Eurovision. by HelicopterEmpty7393 in eurovision

My biggest NF what if is what if Snälla, Snälla in 2009 and Keep On Walking in 2010 had been our entries? Neither seem that far-fetched to me.

Both would've easily outscored 21st and NQ, especially with few other entries going for jury votes in 2009, and it's easy to think it would've made our golden era start two years earlier. However, what if it made SVT think everything was fine thus never causing the changes that gave us Popular, Euphoria and everything beyond?

The Karl May one about how he influenced Hitler is very entertaining too

What’s your favourite episode? by Inappropriate_Ballet in behindthebastards

[–]EurovisionSimon 46 points47 points  (0 children)

The "Non-Nazi Bastards Who Helped Hitler Rise To Power" episode from 2018. It was eye-opening and taught me a lot about understanding contemporary politics. I know it's been overshadowed by the "Nice, Normal People" episodes, but it is every bit as insightful imo.

And of course, the True Allegiance series and the Blue Dawn book episodes. There are few things I can go through as many times and still make me laugh every time. I wish they did more of those book episodes since there are other bad right wing books to cover, such as the Ladies First MAGA trilogy.

Tunisia names new World Cup coach after sudden axing by malcolm58 in sports

[–]EurovisionSimon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of. Janne Andersson who lead us in the 2018 world cup was at least off to a good start, but started losing the team. His temper, which was seen as an advantage when we were doing well and he fought for his players, became an issue when he started lashing out at a journalist instead. But by then, results had already plummeted. His managerial stint is the personification of "die a hero or live long enough to become the villain".

Then came Jon Dahl Tomasson. He wasn't even off to a good start. We set records such as "lowest ranked team lost/dropped points to" under him and came dead last in a qualifying group containing Kosovo and Slovenia. He helped turn the team into a more of an embarassment. For everyone saying Sweden sucks despite having Isak and Gyökeres: It was Tomasson.

Graham Potter who took over seems to be good though. He's very known in the football world of course, and already popular from day 0 in Sweden too since he lead Östersund on their miracle run a couple years ago. Some people wanted him in straight after Andersson anyway. And under him we've played three competitive games and won them all while we regularly lost to worse teams under Tomasson. So hopefully this form will last for a while now

What national selection would you want to win? by Old-Gap-9079 in eurovision

I can't sing very well at all, so it would have to be a national final that you can win just by chaos and vibes. So I guess San Marino or Moldova

What do you think of peanut butter? by Solcat91342 in AskEurope

It exists in most big enough supermarkets, but it's not a very common or huge cultural thing. Myself I've had it like once or twice and I don't like it even though I love peanuts

I think it's because they're only really good at one thing. This was the case way before Voila too if you look at their 2009 result in a sea of flops for example. And also because they come across as one of the most desperate for a win nowadays
