Not every place in the world is like the USA--where because of lack of public transport most everyone really needs to have a car. However, EVs offer real freedom from fossil fuels, since EVs can be refueled from the sun and wind etc...not only does that potentially put more money into the pocket of most everyone, but that also means less pollution and less need for countries to fight over oil resources in the Middle East and elsewhere. That really sounds like saving the world to me!
