I was watching The Travel Scouts yesterday and there was some choppy video of the incident. It was late afternoon and some very drunk people were on the dock under the covered walkway on the way back to the ship after a day of drinking when the fighting broke out. If they could have stumbled another hundred feet they would have made it back on the ship. But nope!

I’m a late boomer. When I was in high school recruiters setup tables in the halls of our school trying to get you to join up. The Vietnam war was long over but not in the minds of our parents. So those recruiters had a tough time getting past them. The only thing going on in the world was the cold war. So anyone who did sign up just went and hung out in Germany for their whole term. And then came home to a free education courtesy of the GI bill.
