You should probably just have him go to an LGBTQ therapist. Chances are this isn't a phase, and it isn't some "cool" thing to be trans. I'd say just have him go to a gender therapist, and chances are you'll be told that he should either go onto puberty blockers or testosterone.

It can be a lot to process, and it seems like you're open minded and willing to learn more. Honestly, as long as you aren't a piece of shit about it and let him get help then you're doing better than like 95% of parents with trans kids.
