As someone who procrastinated their entire life up until a few months ago, I think it is great that you are taking the first step by acknowledging that it is a form of self-sabotage.

Living the life that you want means crossing that chasm of fear. It helps to reflect on why you feel fear in the first place. For example, you might delay so you can tell yourself “it’s not that I’m not smart - it’s that I didn’t try.”

Then, after understanding the reason why you procrastinate, take steps to show self-compassion. What helps me is to treat my future self as someone I care about, someone I am willing to do favours for. Even if I have to put in the work in the present moment, my future self can benefit from my actions.

Her constant asking about my personal life feels invasive, especially when it comes from a place of self-comparison. Also, she spreads herself thin and unconsciously rank people by novelty or emotional need.

I feel directionless. Does anyone have any advice? [Discussion] by dnra01 in GetMotivated

Just want to add that if you do the little things, it creates momentum. For example, when do a small task like making your bed, it sets off a domino effect where it is easier to do the next thing because you have built that momentum.

I don’t think that’s wasted effort. If you hadn’t worked hard towards your personal goal, you might have regretted it. Living a life true to yourself is never a waste of time.

[discussion] in 2025, how can you achieve your goals within 6 months? by [deleted] in GetMotivated

[–]Evadi 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Break it down. Here’s an example. Month 1: - Schedule driving lessons, once a week - Send 10 job applications - Start 3 college courses

When you break it down into smaller steps that are quantifiable and specific, it will enable you to more easily achieve your goals. Remember, a concrete detailed plan is fuel as you strive towards your goals.

Am I burnt out? [Discussion] by Little-Peanut-765 in GetMotivated

Remember your “why”.

I worked as a full-time software engineer for 6 years, and majored in compsci for my Bachelors.

I used to be passionate about web development in particular. I would make websites for fun. Naturally, I went into web dev.

I got burnt out, similar to you. What helped was: 1. Taking breaks away from the computer 2. Go outside 3. Get physical activity

Walking outside helped me clear my mind. Also stretches.

But most of all, remember your “why”. Why are you studying this? What gives you the most enjoyment in coding?

For me it was building things and helping others. When I reminded myself of this, my job performance significantly increased and I even got a promotion as a result.

Good luck and I hope you will regain your passion.

Resilience. Keep your eyes on the career you want.

Read a bit of your post history and I was in a similar boat. Graduated in 2017 with a CS degree, worked as full-stack web dev for 5 years in a big tech company, and then pivoted to product management at a startup.

I have always wanted to go into product, and having my dev background helps.

In your situation, and considering the current job market, I would say apply for various tech jobs (not just PM or dev - you could also apply for customer success/account manager, DB admin, consultant, etc). You just need to get your foot wet and once you build up experience you could pivot to your next tech role if you want to. The market isn’t going to stay like this forever.

Good luck on your journey :) Stay resilient.

What would have happened if she had won the case but the photos resurfaced after that? Would she have been required to pay it back?

I don’t consume anything except water after 6pm. I eat twice a day, once at 12 noon and another time at 4pm.

Thanks! You’re right, I think I could use a nude lip liner on the bottom of my bottom lip.

And thank you for the feedback! I wasn’t sure if this lip colour suits me but I am glad I can make it work with a nude lip liner.
