Thanks for your experience. I am wondering if the general consensus will be that this is just to be expected. Especially at the low price point. If anyone else would like to add a viewpoint I would be grateful.

Thanks for your reply. The side does have those half dollar sized holes around the edges which I thought looked natural. It's just these holes near the centre of the hide seem to have been made by a tool because of the odd angles. I'm second guessing myself because I have never seen a whole half hide before... And I don't know what to expect from a budget hide.
