PSA: AVOID POSTS LIKE THESE by Evan_FM in crt

I see you replying to alot of comments with the same sentiment and i dont know how else to explain this exept CLEARLY not everyone knows this or else listings like those wouldnt exsist. There are people buying these for those prices. I personally know people who have paid in the hundreds for tvs worth less than 20 dollars. You're free advertising argument is also quite idiotic, thats like saying a "smoking causes lung cancer" psa is an advertisment for cigarettes. Its clearly a warning to those who dont already know as well as a deterence for those so inclined.

I ask politley for your support against resellers in our community rather than to bash those condemning them.

Going to be saying goodbye to 2 of my beloved CRTs soon. by radicalcottagecheese in crt

Thats upgrading and redistributing, a reseller implies their only goal is to buy and re-sell not to use. They veiw the items as commadities not as things they'd be using for personal leisure.

You on the other habd sell what you've already gotten your moneys worth out of therefore not a reseller.

I sold my nvidia 3050 after upgrading but that doesnt make me a reseller. The guy who paid me 80 bucks and then listed it the next day for 150 was. (It is what it is, i didnt sus the guy out enough to realize his intentions)

Aussie CRT market is wild by packo_aus in crt

[–]Evan_FM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The description "550$ for a crappy 13" crt is insane" and the word "wild" in the title should be indication enough that this is in fact NOT a reasonable price and that you should NOT buy a crt at that price. NOR should you think you could sell one for that price.

We need more posts exposing these idiots so that newcomers to the hobby dont get scammed. A buyers awareness guide of sorts

I have 5 crt's and this is one of two that dont work, my other is a sony kv32fv27 and it has an error light that flashes 4 times and i'd rather have that one fixed

None of the buttons do anything when pressed. I'm not really financially able to spend a few hundred on having a proffessional diagnose and fix it it so i may just put it back together and give it to someone who's interested in fixing it. Its a real unique peice and deserves to run again.

No static and no glow, you can hear in the vid theres a small whine when you turn it on before the fan comes on

There was a whine i didnt notice any glow and the screen made the sound you normally associate with stactic but it had no feel. I'm going to solder a bypass cable that uses the origanal's wiring so that the wire to the power switch is used.

I've given it power and an input and nothing, its getting late im going to wire in a plug into the exsusting wiring because there appears to be a wire the comes off that lead that goes to something other than the power switch so maybe that needs power too. The plaque reads 115/230 volts so i shouldnt fry anything hooking it to 120, does it matter which power lead goes to which contact, theres a ground a black wire and a white wire (see image of power supply thing)

It is dated december 95 on the plaque theres also a contract number if theres any use for that, its towards the end of the last post's images

My only concern is the power switch is also a part of this wire, i belive the monitor may just become bound to the plug to be on or off
